PATRIOTS NEWS OFFICIAL: Patriots Finally Acquire AJ Brown

Breaking New England Patriots Team News
AJ Brown liked one of my Facebook posts yesterday. He was the only one. It was about the Patriots.

I told my wife about it and she had no idea who or what I was talking about. And my kids didn't care either.

So I'm sharing it with y'all.

Thanks!

Yeah, we were out in the Sound on the smaller yacht yesterday and he mentioned he loves your stuff.

All the nonsense talk concerning how AJ Brown is slipping.

We finally got a stud.

First thing I read on Sunday mornings is Mike Reiss' column.
When I read those stats on Brown, I felt very encouraged.
So I came here to post what both of y'all posted.
Pats fans who loved the trade and  especially
those who were less than enthusiastic due to injury concerns should also feel encouraged by this.
Brown accomplished this during an alleged "down" year.
With Hurts at qb and Philly's current offense.
My question for any doubters is" What the hell do you think he'll do this season with Maye at qb and McD's offense?

Unless it's a great and lucky draft pick, no team is getting a Jefferson, Puka, Chase, Lamb in their prime.

This was best case.

Lots of interesting stuff in these last 2 pages, that podcast was very interesting. I didn't like their take on Brown's injury situation, a little too pessimistic despite there not being a lot of evidence that the prognosis is bad. I liked take on how his (and Doubs) arrival will affect the WR room. AND how Maye will affect their individual production positively.

The Reiss tidbit was also very revealing. A lot has been said about Browns "down" year. Maybe it wasn't as down a s it seemed and perhaps it was surprisingly good, given how fractured Browns relationship with Hurts and the Eagles was at that point. It kind of shows just how subjective you can be when using selective statistics to make a point. Reminds me of the old adage, "there are LIES, big lies... and statistics"

While the 30 cliff is definitely a real thing, my sense of it is that big possession receivers are less likely to suffer from it than the speedsters. Guys like Anquon Bolden didn't start dropping off until he was 35, and like Brown he was 6'1 220., Larry Fitzgerald 6'3 218, same thing, didn't drop off until 35, Andre Johnson 6'3 229, didn't drop off until 34. I think it's likely that A.J. Brown will follow this pattern. He might not be a 1,400 yard receiver for the next 5-6 years, but we should see a really stable and productive run for him during his time with the Patriots.

Yeah, he adds an element we didn't have last year. I'm all for keeping Boutte too but he doesn't get the separation that Brown does.

He brings more than any other WR we will be able to get.

If not Brown, what's the plan?

It's cool to think of Gonzalez lining up across Brown every practice. The best CB in the league (imo, yes it's a homer take, but not a crazy one) now gets to practice against one of the best WR's In the league.

In theory it makes sense: the better your team is, the better it gets through practice, because it's constantly used to top talent. But I wonder if that actually translates or no?

I do remember always getting excited when you'd hear about Brady losing his **** in camps because he was getting picked off and pass defended. It was a nice preview of what would become very sound, stingy secondaries in the regular season.

You still have to go up against different receivers or CB’s in the regular season. But when you go up against the Top CB or WR daily it has to strengthen your game. Like when you were younger and you play against kids that were 2 years older than you daily in the parks. When you played kids your age you dominated. You learned how to survive then thrive.

Hopefully he remains 28 for the next 5 years.

I'm not that concerned about the 30 cliff. I went and looked at the top big possession receivers from recent years, Bolden, Fitzgerald, Andre Joh no son and a few others and all played well until the hit 34-35, at which point their production dropped off. It's the speed receivers who hit the cliff at 30. I expect Brown to be really productive for the next 4 years or so, then he will hit the cliff.

Absolutely disgusting behavior from our so-called “1 receiver” Now I realize why Philly fans were so irate towards him at the end of his tenure. Release him without pay & sign Terrion Arnold immediately…

He only did that because Jalen Hurts drove by the kid and didn't buy a thing. Every Eagles fan will tell you it was just a self serving gesture aimed at making Hurts look bad.

What a difference. He bought candy for $500 while Diggs was passing out candy for free.
