Cowherd's top 10 QB's

If the criteria is production, durability, and career momentum, how is Mahomes #2? Mahomes' production has been declining for the last three years. His stats have been pedestrian the last two years. He is obviously one of the best QBs in the league, but based on this criteria, I wouldn't put him in the top 5. Plus he has some durability concerns now that he is over 30 and coming off a major injury combined with his style of play.

Maye is too low based on this criteria. Willaims is too high. Stafford is too high since he is likely in his last year and still has significant back concerns which would probably knock him out of the top 10. Burrow's lack of durability should knock him down a lot too.

It seems like Cowherd made a set a criteria to follow and then just made a ranking based on a separate criteria that doesn't seem to be consistent.

Agree completely, his list is incoherent. It's not best career, it's not best currently, and it's not predictive of who should be the best QB this coming season. As usual it's a total fail by Cowherd.

he's not dumb....look at his job making millions spewing nonsense but he is a perfectly harmless, self important dope full of his own ********. he speaks as if he knows something. great job if you can get it.

Caleb may be on his way to greatness but him at 3 or anywhere above Maye is a joke.

I feel alot of people will have Drake in the 6-8 range and i think its pretty fair. Another year like last year or in the ballpark should move him into the top 5

I understand what Cowherd's doing. There's a lot of dead NFL airtime after the Draft.
So, it's list time. "Best QB's" is as good a list as any.

Mahomes, Stafford and Darnold are the only QB's on that list who've won a ring.
Burrow and Maye both made it to the big game.
So, there's that.

Josh Allen gets the "Dan Marino Lifetime Achievement Award," but never won his Conference.

I have a Brady frame of mind: Mahomes is the only one on that list who's won three times, so he belongs at the top as long as he's playing or until someone else still playing does the same.

Beyond Mahomes and Allen, you can shake and stir the list in almost any way you want...and maybe add a couple of others.
All that really matters is who's still standing after the clock runs out on the last game in February.

The simple fact drake was #2 in the MVP conversation and was an all pro and led the league in competition % in 2025 comparison to Caleb and Stafford who have elite players around them.. still took his team to the superbowl.. Drake is a top 5 QB right now and with another stellar season will only climb up from there.. all he needs is continued seasoning.

Ive never been a fan of USC QBs, but Williams really showed promise last season. Now that there is plenty of film on him having success, 2026 will tell if he is legit.
He's an erratic passer. He has some really ugly throws. His 58% completion would be good if it were the still the 90's. I think the Bears are a fluke and should come back down to earth this season. They had 2024 Chiefs like luck.
It would not surprise me to see the Chiefs in this Super Bowl.

Mahomes hand picked his OC. KC fixed RB, fixed OT and they will have Kelce and Hill back. Hill at 50% is still a weapon.
It would surprise me if they even made the playoffs this season. Mahomes is getting sloppy and the lack of talent surrounding him is exposing it. They finally addressed the RB position which only took them 8-9 years after they cut Hunt. However, I don't think the Chiefs have done enough. The Broncos and Chargers have passed them up.
Its long overdue for Herbert to take the next step.
He's never really had good teams contrary to popular opinion. His best team was rookie year and has declined since. In fact, the Chargers really had no business even making the playoffs after losing both starting T's early in the season. Herbert's situation is very similar to Bledsoe post Parcells.

Yep they’re the 3rd best team in that division right now.
I’m not sure they addressed the RB position. There’s a reason why the Seahawks let him walk.

I look forward to seeing how one potential differentiator sorts out:

Mahomes messed up his ACL, as Brady did (as Chiefs fans are posting all over Facebook because they think Brady/Mahomes is some kind of uncanny kinship like Lincoln/Kennedy (not to be confused with Lincoln Kennedy.)

What Brady did was come back from it, go undefeated until the Super Bowl (lost by a whisker, not a blowout like the Chiefs just suffered a couple years ago,) return within three years, then ultmately found a second dynasty.

All that starts with how he came back from injury.

So yes, I'm interested in how Mahomes passes or flunks that test. First year back: You got this?

Can't say I'm rooting for him, but that's good television.
Brady was coming off the undefeated season, he got hurt in 2008. 2009 was his first year back. 2009 wasn't his best year but what came after was nothing short of mythical.

That being said who cares about this list. It's just someone else's opinion, I personally want to see what Drakes mental makeup is made of after not playing up to his standards in the playoffs then looking lost in the Superbowl, same with Campbell.

Im impressed with his 2025 6 - 4th quarter comebacks and 6 game winning drives.

Those throws had to be on the money and they were. Some were incredible how he fit the ball in those windows.

Williams 2025 On Target % is 70% and Mayes is 79%. Williams had 29 drops and Maye had 13.

KC is still the best team in the AFCW.

Mahomes has what Brady had always wanting the next ring and never satisfied with the status quo. Mahomes is chasing Brady and just like Brady folks said that he was all done and all he did was go out and win more Championships.

Payton is a damn idiot to not be aware of weather moving in during the AFCC. He shot his mouth off about how great Stidham was then tried to cash the check that he wrote. His gambling cost Denver the game.

Dude is a turnover waiting to happen.

13 INTs and 7 fumbles last season is venturing into to Tua territory. Overall, Herbert is a fumbling machine coughing up the ball twice vs NE post season. Choker in the post season too where his stat sheet is abysmal.

Like Felger and the other talking douchebags he trades having ******* as an epitaph for $$$$.

Denver was the 1 seed last season in case anyone forgot.. Bailey Zappe would had been a better option at QB then the QB playing for KC last season after Mahomes went down..

I'm not going to fight anyone too hard for wanting to see more than a year out of a new star before ranking him over guys who have dominated the past decade.

Williams at 3 is wild, though. Goff and Darnold over Dak Prescott is also curious.

Caleb Williams LOL

dude is below league average in things like EPA/play, success rate, DVOA. Maye was #1 in EPA/play and success rate (min. 300 pass attempts) and #2 in DVOA

Coward doesnt want Drake to come near his pal Brady

Williams at 3 demonstrates that Cowherd didn't employ any logic in his decisions. If it was a matter of not ranking a new star based off of a 1 year performance then Williams wouldn't be at 3. I can't come up with any logical criteria for this list at all, it's just Cowherd making **** up with absolutely no rhyme or reason.

Sam Bam Grogan-ham must be out of his mind not seeing Hurts in the top 10

I hear that Denver hates this list, where's "Stiddy"?
