Good for him. I hate retired numbers. To me you have to be an all time great. Meant so much to the franchise that you were the best of the best to all fans of the game. I’m talking transcending the sport type of good. Orr, Bird, Russell, Brady, Ted Williams etc.

Personally I think some numbers should be retired…..I think Jules was clearly on of the greatest and MOST clutch WR in Patriots history and his number should be retired appropriately….and of course Brady!!!! I wish Devante well and hope he can stay healthy ….but he should take N’Cant’s number!!!

Don't know if Squirrel's # should be retired, yet, But... I don't care if he wore 11 in Miami; he should Not wear it here until he shows his reliability during a season other than one in which he's playing for a contract.

Don't know if he should be ass-igned #1 either... Look a the last two ****ing clowns to wear it... And #17's already cursed...

If someone else is wearing #83 then #11 should be up for grabs too. The only jersey number that should be held out is #12.

That seems to be a very lucky number in #11.

Food for thought: who do you think meant more to the franchise as #11? Bledsoe or Edelman?

you know, I would have said "omg if there is any number anywhere that needs to be retired it's 12 in New England," and I am sure that's how it's going to go. And I don't think he did anything wrong by leaving and he didn't do anything disrespectful after leaving... and since it would be disrespectful, I guess I wouldn't advocate giving somebody no. 12. (nor is that some kind of last trump card he'd actually care about...) But all that said, part of me is like, "why?" There was an easy way to keep 12 off any other players in NE, and that was to wear it.

Nah I'm not bitter...
