Sign me up for this interesting Deshaun Watson ESPN Trade scenario

In a heartbeat.

Patriots send: 15th overall pick and third-round compensatory selection in 2021 draft, 2022 first-round pick, 2023 second-round pick, CB J.C. Jackson, WR N'Keal Harry
Texans send: 2022 sixth-round pick, QB Deshaun Watson, TE Kahale Warring
Texans fans who are already upset about the Patriots-ization of their franchise would be even more furious to see their star quarterback head to New England. The Patriots might have to go a little over the odds, then, to get a deal done. The Pats would send only two first-round picks as part of this deal, but they would also attach second- and third-round picks and a star cornerback in Jackson, who intercepted nine passes this season. Jackson is a restricted free agent, so the Texans would need to negotiate a new deal with Jackson as part of the trade. Harry would be a flier after two disappointing seasons since being drafted in the first round.

If the Jets have pick #2 on the table, then I think that alone beats out this entire offer. There's too much of a gap in value between #2 and #15, and the value of future picks drops a ton when you account for how those picks should be significantly worse because the team is quarterbacked by Deshaun Watson.

I like Watson, but even with a good supporting cast he hasn't gone deep in the playoffs. Now you add him to a team that still needs weapons, no longer has it's #2 CB on defense, and is without a first round pick for the next two years, and we've essentially become the current Texans. Sure, we could use our cap space to fill some gaps, but I want this team to also try to acquire some homegrown talent to actually build WITH whoever the new QB is, and the first round (at least in the top 25) is one where we typically do quite well. We've lost enough 1st rounders over the years, I want to keep ours unless something can't miss is available for them (and none of the QB's I've seen rumored are that, IMO).

Ew. No. Watson is a very good QB but reminds me of Rivers in that good enough to give you hope but not Elite in that he single handedly adds 4-6 wins every year. Was it Watson or just that he was throwing to Hopkins? I am not giving up two firsts AND Jackson for him.

The Texans have to get a top 5 pick as part of the package. Watson isn't coming here. All of the movement at the QB position should result in the Pats having multiple opportunities to substantially upgrade the position. I'm still holding out for Jimmy G. He's the perfect fit in this offense. Plays fast & throws with accuracy.

I don’t know Chris...weren’t you saying Brady was pouting so he should go? What about Watson whining about the Texans coaching, organization, trading Hopkins, etc?

Why is that different?

Caserio cannot afford to make even a great deal for Watson. The politics alone would kill him. However, if he adds another weapon or two (or some substantial OL upgrades) for Watson to use, and a few upgrades on defense, he gains Watson's trust and shows the fan base he's a serious operator looking to win.

I'm surprised at how many posters are saying Texas wouldn't be interested. Two first rounders+ ; a young solid CB for a player that doesn't want to be there ? As a NE fan I'd not be all that excited about giving up this much for Watson - but I will acknowledge he'd be a huge upgrade over (most likely) anything BB can find...

If the argument is "Texas is sure to get more on the market", then - I guess I could agree with that. If teams are willing to give up more than that, it's their life/problem. But to suggest a pouting player who's never done much of anything in the postseason isn't worth giving up for two 1st rounders and more ?

I'd be worried about JG injury history. How does rest of board feel?
