NE interested in TE Delanie Walker

Wouldn't be a bad addition if he returns to his 2017 form...

Small, talented TE. Good hands and knows how to get open. IF he can stay healthy, would be a good signing, and a good teacher for the young TEs.

Good with it. Past his prime but still better than Lacosse.

Been banging the drum for him all off season. Had more yards than all of our tight ends last year in 7 games.

Why did the Titans let him go?

He's 35, and he's played a total of 8 games the last 2 seasons. Probably saved them some decent cap space as well. Now that we have cap space, should probably try to sign him.

He had pretty bad ankle injuries which were a killer. If he is healthy and comes cheap he might be able to contribute a bit and be the right veteran presence for Keene and Asiasi.

Surprised that we are interested in him because if I were the GM, I would have made that phone call in March with a healthy/non-opted out LaCosse on the roster....

Maybe they did, but at the time our available cap space wouldn't even permit the purchase of the generic breath mints on the bottom row of the vending machine.

If he can stay on the field I could see Walker and Cam being quite a duo. Cam knows how to find tight ends obviously, as Greg Olsen was his best receiver throughout his time in Carolina.

For some reason picturing Cam throwing to Walker reminds me of the Lions game where Olsen was injured and his backup Ed ****son went off for 175 yards.

Feels like there haven't been many opportunities to say this in a while due to the cap issues, but sign the mf beast.

Walker would basically be a Vitale replacement, IMO. Flexible TE/H-Back type.

Vitale opting out was not insignificant; I think the team has a pretty well-defined niche/role lined up for him (that I'm still looking forward to him fulfilling in future seasons), but someone needs to fill that spot for the current season.

One of the beat guys recently suggested (tried to find the tweet but couldn't) that according to talks with player agents Vitale wasn't even the Pats first FB choice through FA and that it was anything but a sure thing he'd make the roster.

Think it will be Johnson and Keene this year who line up as FB.

no relation to kemba?

6a. Vitale opt-out in perspective: Of the seven Patriots players to opt out of the 2020 season, I viewed four as locks to make the initial roster -- Hightower, Chung, Cannon and running back/core special-teamer Brandon Bolden. So fullback Danny Vitale and reserve center/guard Najee Toran, from my view, might not have been part of the mix anyway. While the Patriots were looking forward to seeing if Vitale could emerge as the replacement for the retired James Develin, my sense based on conversations with agents around the NFL was that he wasn't their top free-agent target at the position this offseason.

Walker was released in March with a failed physical. So the Pats might have been interested in March, but with 2 lost years in a row due to ankle issues and a failed physical, I think waiting is wise and retaking a physical since March has logistically been tough.

They're wintergreen aren't they?
