No Wonder Diggs wants out of Vikes

Meh ........

Might be worth throwing into the Diggs thread, certainly not worth its own.

I will say once again what is happening in the NBA is absolutely
creeping into the NFL and it will intensify going forward. Players will
shoot their mouth out of town and/or line up contracts to play together.

It may well end up being the players on original 4 and 5 year deals who do it.

It certainly seems like some players are trying to copy the NBA model, but I doubt that they will get very far. In the NBA, two or three stars can take a team deep into the playoffs or possibly win a championship. With the NFL's 53 player roster, there is hardly any guarantee that a few stars will make a big difference. Also, when compared to other professional sports, NFL owners are the toughest and most skilled at looking after their own economic interests. Lastly, the NFL salary cap is a hard cap, the NBA's is a soft cap. Some players may engineer a departure from their current teams, but don't look for a restructuring of the competitive balance.

Minnesota's got a coach who's almost openly hostile to his own offense, particularly the passing game. It's not surprising that players on that side of the ball would be less than thrilled with that.

Zimmer seems to still go by the old adage about how 3 things can happen when you pass the ball....

They wanted a QB to come in and help cousins, not take his job? Newsflash: nothing's helping cousins get above being mediocre. Sounds like an organization content with being mediocre, if they dont want to try and get better (by upgrading from Cousins).

Or, another take: Diggs wants a real quarterback throwing to him

NFL teams were buzzing with interest in December as Mitchell worked out for seven NFL teams and even more wanted to bring him into their facilities. But the guaranteed money wasn’t where it needed to be for Mitchell to feel as though he had a legitimate shot to compete for a backup or starting job.

Details of Bo Levi Mitchell’s contract with the Stampeders | 3DownNation

Mitchell is a 7 year vet of the CFL. He is the second highest paid player in that league making $675,000. The NFL minimum salary for a 7 year vet is $930,000. I remember when the CFL used to steal some NFL players like Rocket Ismail. That league has really fallen.

My bro in law is a huge Minnesota fan, and needless to say he is very disappointed over these turn of events..

With a receiver corps of Diggs, Theilen, Rudolph and Irv Smith Jr. all they need is a good qb to make them contenders.. he thinks the Cousins is the problem, overpaid and mediocre...

Rocket went up there because he got a too good to be true contract... But that was the doing of Bruce McNall, the guy who almost ruined the LA Kings ... the CFL really never was capable of, nor willing to, out bid NFL teams for players... except for that one unusual contract, done by a guy who was all about the flash...

Well hes the guy that Flutie ended up suing, right?

I remember being blasted by numerous posters for suggesting Cousins was not a top-tier QB. I remember being baffled by it. I couldn't understand it at all. I bet those same people would probably still try to say he belongs and blame everything on Zimmer. Lol

Yup, and to be honest, it's also possible for all 3 things to be bad when you pass the ball.

Like coach says, it's all about the situation.

Anyone who had that opinion is probably banned now.
