Bennett on Belichick: "He knows how to talk to me"

Ian Logue

There are certain people players just seem to click with, and it appears that for Martellus Bennett, the one here in New England seems to understand him pretty well.

That's why this Patriot way thing is bs, he isn't asking guys to conform just to do their job. We've had a lot of big personalities like Marty, Vrabel, Moss, Wes over the years.

I agree, Belichick is direct and to the point and guys like Moss, Vrabel, Blount, and Bennett see right through typical bullsh.t and like it straight. At the same time Belichick pushes their ego button with “ I need this, can you do that?” And the answer is usually yes.

Gotta like where this is heading.

The patriot way is a very real thing, it’s just not what a lot of people think it is.

Well look at Moss when he said about the Halloween party does BB want to go, if I could find the clip I'd post..

It's little things like that, that's what makes BB so good. He trusts his players, he believes in them but the second they are out of line they know it.

That is one of BB biggest skills. His man mangement of players, staff.

I don’t think it’s “ the Patriot Way,” I think it’s “the Belichick way.” And when he steps down it cannot be replicated. They can try, but giving supreme authority requires supreme results, and unless lightening strikes twice Tom Brady won’t be coming through that door.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Belichick has designed their program in his image, but replicating the results will be almost impossible. It’s going to be fascinating to watch when it happens, but for now I’m just going to enjoy watching Belichick and Brady rack up Lombardi’s.

Beli is like 'welcome back home boy! let's throw this house down baby!'

Of course.

Well I am sure BB keeps it simple and direct with no BS. Probably something like this.

"Be here, do your job, don't give the other team bulletin board material. Besides that do what you like as long as it doesn't reflect badly on the team. You wanna write kids books that great. If you want we will get you in contact with a guy".

The guy being Malcolm Mitchell, right?

he was here last year.....BB didn't have to say anything except 'can you play? let's go get some reps'

Bennett already knew about the rest

It is reported that Bennett said about first talking to Belichick: "he had me at Hello"...
