OT: Demarcus Ware retires from NFL

Damn! Time flies. I still remember a certain crazy coot poster on this board who had Draft DeMarcus Ware in his sig. He was wrong about a lot of things, but not about that one.

Rip Demarcus will not miss a healthy you on that Denver D and neither will Brady.

He knows who is winning the AFC.

On a serious note, hell of a career and represented himself with class.

He must have realized he wasn't getting much more than the veteran minimum plus incentives. Good for him to walk away rather than embarrass himself for staying way too long.

One of the best, could never manage to dislike him even when I disliked every team he played for. QBs everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief.

Not particularly impactful in crunch time in the last 2-3 years as he traditionally started to run out of gas around Thanksgiving. Guess he made enough already and doesn't need to milk more money.

Some of that may be right, but Denver doesn't ring in 2016 without him. He was vital to that defense and made several clutch plays during their title run. Him getting hurt, and then being healthy for the playoffs was so critical.

Probably just throwing out ideas .. but just in case:

Vic Lombardi of Altitude Sports Network mentioned during an interview with Pro Football Talk that it’s possible DeMarcus Ware‘s recent decision to call it a career could end up being a “soft retirement” with him potentially returning at some point later this year.

Lombardi added that Ware is in great shape, despite the back issues he has dealt with the past few years. By waiting until later on in the season, Ware could ensure he’s in great shape and full health before looking to catch on with a contender towards the end of the season.
