Breer:Gary Kubiak breaks down Pats/Falcons

The idiot narratives from King continue:

Two years ago, Dan Quinn’s Seattle defense, with a few tweaks, spent three quarters on top of Tom Brady. Then Cliff Avril got hurt, and the team crumbled in the fourth. Can Quinn use that experience with Atlanta’s young D?

What the hell is he talking about ? We were in control of the game for in total 3 quarters and the only thing that kept Seattle in the game were low percentage deep shots and turnovers. Exactly at what point was the Seattle D on top of anything ?

I like how in interviews BB points out the importance of tiring out the opponents and specifically mentions the Seattle SB as an example but morons like King instead make the 4th quarter performance about Avril being out.

We were down 24-14 going to the 4th. I don't why we won but I agree with Breer that if Avril doesn't get hurt we probably lose.

NE dominated that game on everything but the scoreboard. Russell Wilson didn't even complete a single pass until midway into the 2nd quarter. And the only reason why the game was close was because the seahawks got that lucky TD at the end of the first half and another TD at the beginning of the 2nd half.

I agree, if it wasn't for a couple of fluke plays, the Patriots would have blown out Seattle. However, thems the breaks in the game.

Gary, feel like jumping off that fence?

That's fine, I don't necessarily disagree. But the fact is we went into the 4th with 14 points and needed to score two more TDs. However we arrived at that point, I'm not sure it would have happened had the pass rush not taken a hit.

Thankfully, the Falcons don't have that pass rush.

Scoreboards don't necessarily reflect how the game was actually played....the fact that we came back does not mean it was because cliff avril went out.

No it doesn't. I'm just saying I think it was a big factor - and we'll never know. That is all.

Possibly. But the seattle defense was also tired. You can hear in the nfl films sounds ,BB telling brady that they are tired and there is no pass rush so dont take any -ve plays. There will be other.
As is the case in a lot of competitive superbowls the defense tires in the end of a 4 hr game and offenses move the ball at will. We have to see who it helps this game.

Very fair and objective input from Gary Kubiak. I like that he provided analysis for both sides: What the Falcons need to do to beat the Patriots, and what the Patriots need to do to lose to the Falcons.

I'm interested in Kubiak's take (saying this before I read). His Broncos and Ravens teams have given the Patriots tough games several times before (not so much his Texans teams). My understanding is that his & Shanahan's offensive systems are essentially the same, so maybe they'd take similar approaches to the Patriots D.

About the only things the Seattle D did well that night was hold the Pats scoreless in the third and Bennett was as close to unlockable as could be. Neither one of those things was directly impacted by Avril. In fact, I remember Collingsworth comparing the DEN SB to 2014, specifically stating how Avril was a non-factor during that game (I'm contrast to the DEN game). The only times I remember hearing his name were during that quip and again when he had to leave the field.

Kubiak should be sending Manning cards every holiday season for the SB gift they both received as part of Manning's sendoff by the NFL. He and Ray Ray will forever have that in common.
