Reiss/Schefter: Gronk Got Knee Injection At Hospital Today

I don't know if anyone has posted this, but it looks like Florio is tossing out the conspiracy theories already (although commends the Pats):

On Thursday night, here’s what a source with knowledge of how the Patriots do business said when it comes to the high-stakes, single-elimination nature of the postseason: “Don’t buy into it.”

In other words, there’s a chance that the Patriots are deliberately overstating Gronkowski’s health condition in an effort to confuse the Chiefs as they finalize a game plan for Saturday.

If true, it’s sort of brilliant. No one ever gets investigated or punished for putting too much on the injury report; the NFL only acts (and rarely at best) when a team fails to disclose enough. If a team discloses too much or otherwise makes the situation seem worse than it is, nothing happens.

And if, in this particular case, it causes the Chiefs to assume that they’ll see an impaired Gronkowski when in fact he’ll be fine, the Patriots could find a way to take advantage of that defect in game planning to get out to an early lead and, sooner than later, to deliver a knockout blow to the hottest team in football, which has now won 11 in a row.

Are Patriots deliberately overstating Gronkowski’s injuries?

He is business partners with Drew Rosenhaus. I don't know why he wouldn't get the info directly from him like he usually does. This "source" doesn't appear to be Rosenhaus though based on the info.

Urban Dictionary: Gronkitis
Gronkitis
Gronkitis is a chronic illness suffered by athletes. An athlete that has Gronkitis is very injury prone and will probably sit out a lot of games as a result of those injuries. This disease is named for none other than the New England Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski, who suffers from this condition. Gronkitis is a fusion of Gronkowski and Bronchitis.

Hard to tell what's real and what's false. All of the conflicting reports tell me that the Pats could just be f&cking with everyone and that Gronk will have a huge game.

I guess we'll find out in about 28 hours.

I'd like to know how the hell his knee got, seemingly, worse over the past two weeks

I heard this theory on the sports talk this morning. Not buying it. If anything, the Pats usually understate how injured a player is, not the other way around. I expect that Gronk is hobbled (he missed practice or portions thereof for the past few days for cripes sake) and that they are doing everything they can to get him on the field for tomorrow. I don't think the Pats know what they are going to get with Gronk, never mind the Chiefs. And the idea that the Chiefs suddenly would not prepare for Gronk because the Pats say he's injured is ludicrous.
