It is the only reason to explain how he could could compare himself to Tom Brady.

Bengals QB A.J. McCarron said he sees similarities between his situation and Tom Brady's in 2001.

"I guess Tom Brady was in the same situation when he had the opportunity," McCarron said. "I’ve got to make the most of it and do my job each week. I know we have an unbelievable defense and if we don’t turn the ball over we have a great chance." The Brady comparison was clearly just referring to the situation, but the former Alabama quarterback has never been lacking for confidence. He will need that swagger as he attempts to replace Andy Dalton (thumb) down the stretch. Dec 14 - 10:31 AM

EDIT: Yes, I know he isn't really comparing himself to Brady in terms of talent. I was just making a joke. Although from what I have read about McCarron, he probably privately thinks this situation will turn him into Brady 2.0 only more talented.

To be fair (i saw the clip) he is not comparing his play to Tom Bradys just the fact he has the same opportunity Brady did in 01 when a starter goes down. Now what he does with it is another matter entirely. Smart man to compare himself to the positive exception vs saying hey I have the same opportunity Mike Vick did earlier this year.

Is McCarron the one that married to the woman that Musberger drooled over on national TV?

Yea it certainly wasn't a Dan Quayle/JFK/ Lloyd Benson moment...

I don't know why people are making a fuss here lol, it is sorta a similar situation. He never said he was as good as Brady or anything.

Way hotter than Gisele. Just doesn't have nearly the bank account that Gisele has. So, me being the whore that I am, I would choose Gisele over her because of my fantasy of being a stay at home house husband. I'd have Gisele hire McCarron's girlfriend as a pool girl, though, if you're catching my drift.

Katherine Webb > Gisele.

I don't see what's wrong with him making that comparison. It's the right comparison for someone in his situation to make. Is it extremely ****y to be comparing himself to Brady this early in his career before he's actually done anything in the NFL? Sure, but for comparison Brady declared himself the best choice the Patriots had ever made to the team owner before he ever took a snap. That statement will probably look ridiculous in a couple years, but he believes in himself and that's a good thing. Maybe unfounded-as-of-yet ****iness isn't the worst thing in the world, as long as he has the work ethic to back it up.

Honestly, I'm kinda rooting for the guy. I hope the Bengals lose every game, don't get me wrong, but if he looks good in the process and establishes himself as a QB with some potential, then that would be pretty cool. There are too few good young QBs in the NFL right now, and despite not really liking Alabama I always liked how he carried himself there.

Roger Goodell laughed hysterically at the thread title.

I catch your drift alright, and raise you one....

You can give me 100 concussions so long as I'm married to that fine poon. Webb is a dime.

If he does turn out to be the real deal that means the Bengals could trade him for real value, just like they already did with Palmer.

I remember there were a few people here hoping the Pats would draft him.
