Broncos drew 60+ media members yesterday. And they're only playing KC. With Peyton Manning, Broncos are center of NFL universe. #9news

.

C'mon, Fourier, it's not even a legit discussion.

They have only one player in the top 25 selling player jerseys - - Manning at #13:

Check out the top-selling NFL jerseys

"Center of NFL Universe"

You could be right. I don't follow NFLN/ESPN that closely (actually haven't followed ESPN at all in months) but from my limited exposure to those networks it seemed to me that Denver has received a ton of undeserved media coverage.

I know for certain that among fans of other teams, the Pats are definitely on all of their minds. More so than other teams.

The Donkeys just lost at Indy. The 60 media members are there anticipating a KC upset and wanting to say, "See, I was in Denver just this week and Manning's arm looked like it was ready to go full blown "Noodle" just as we saw on Sunday!

As original AFL teams go, the Broncos are clearly above average in franchise importance. Patriots, Dolphins, Raiders and Jets have claims to be ahead, for various reasons, but that's about it.

The Broncos won a couple of Super Bowls, played in a bunch of others, and haven't been total zeros in schematic innovation.

Denver has been hysterical for the Broncos for a very long time ... this is nothing new.
I imagine results for this are different based on the polls ... homerism in the polls.

anyways this piece from last year:
America's (new) Team: Broncos top fan poll

The Broncos replaced the Dallas Cowboys, who had finished in The Harris Poll's top spot for each of the previous six years as the "favorite team" of adults who follow professional football. The New York Giants finished as the No. 2 team with the Green Bay Packers at No. 3, the Cowboys at No. 4 and Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 5.

I wonder if, while amongst those 60 media members, if Peyton threw his teammates under the bus again ?

Fourier, during that time, Denver is not even in second place - - they 3rd are behind Seattle and the Legion of Boom/Richard Sherman/Beast mode Show.

If you want to move the goalposts though and make it about 2012-2015, nothing beats the media scruitny of Tom Brady and the Patriots over the last 11 months - - nothing. And it is enough to more than cover the past 3 years.

Peyton Manning never knocked the death of the Saudi King off the top story on the Evening News.

Not the center of the NFL universe but definitely one the media darlings. "Oh Peyton threw a touchdown....he's the best ever....and he did it when he had two pulled quadriceps ....he's so tough....oh..oohhh........ahhh....ohhhhh ...ahhhhhh....."

And then you get , "Tom Brady has been having a great season.....despite the balls being inflated...." BS

So I get where Fourier is coming from.

Sure they're not Jacksonville, but, are they the "Center of the NFL Universe"????????

They were really good 20 years ago. It's no coincidence that their fanbase is disproportionately 35-50.
Cowboys became America's team IMO due to the cheerleaders .... back in the 70's and 80's.
Also immigrants who came to this country at that time for some reason a good number of them became
Cowboy's fans ... I guess because many of their games were carried nationally.

I'm not sure why but growing up as a military brat in the 70's and 80's it seemed more often than not that the Cowboys were shown on Sundays no matter where we moved to.

It might have to do with the Steeler/Cowboy rivalry during the 70's. Classic Super Bowls back then.

I think it's somewhat cruel that media hordes are flying in from all over the country to watch what's left of the great Pyeton Manning embarrass himself every week. But if that's what makes Denver the center of the football universe, so be it.

They became "America's team" because they were always on TV and they were winning. The cheerleaders were a nice bonus, no question.

There's a reason Manning insisted on playing for a small/mid market team and then chose Denver. Those fools think they are the center of attention? They have gotten away with so many small scandals and failures that have barely been a blip on the national radar. No way they could handle walking a yard in the shoes of the Patriots, who become a major controversy every time someone farts.

If you plot the exact "center" between the eastern most NFL franchise (Foxboro) and the western most franchise (Seattle) - the "center of the NFL universe" is actually...the Minnesota Vikings.

Who knew?

This year they are back down to fourth while Pats are 2nd.: The Dallas Cowboys are Back on the Horse as America’s Favorite Football Team

I will still never understand how so many people like the Cowboys.
I agree. It's been two decades (one generation) since they last won a Super Bowl. Twenty years of mediocrity under an owner who styles himself a GM.
It probably has to do with Dallas having been broadcast to a wide area of the South and West that did not have pro football teams. New Orleans was the only other NFC franchise between Atlanta and LA for many years, and they were so terrible for much of the time that no one paid any attention to them. AFC teams like the Houston Oilers and Kansas City Chiefs were never competitive in terms of widespread fan loyalty.
