The new ombudsman for ESPN: a Jets fan with an anti-Patriots tweet

What a clueless dummy. Any old school/pre-geek dos user could tell you that # is the new *, not the other way around.

The fact that he's a Jets fan? No problem.

The fact that he hates the Patriots (as a Jets fan)? No problem.

The fact that he's an ombudsman, and he's embraced the ideology that the Patriots are a crooked team?

Problem.

This (fan doesn't equal too biased), at least, can be argued in his favor. Unfortunately for him, the whole "just got here and am already ****ting on the Patriots" thing already demonstrates that his judgment is suspect at best, and non-existent at worst. And having good judgment is part of being an ombudsman.

He should be fired immediately. Instead, he'll probably get a raise.

ESPN 2012 says "you get a raise". Thanks to sub fee loss due to cord cutting/unbundling, ESPN 2015 says "don't get too comfortable just yet".
Regardless of it not being for the right reasons, ESPN is a contracting enterprise. Sub fees are ESPN's main entree and about as easy as gross income gets. ESPN might as well have a huge trust fund that just feeds them a massive monthly payment. Fortunately thay sub fee party is slowly ebbing and there virtually isn't one damn thing these slugs can do about it.
It won't be quick and it won't put them out of business (not by a long shot) but the contraction is slowly coming. Unless ESPN can miraculously expand viewership very significantly without any expansion of its budget, the sub fees will contract and ESPN as an entity will also then lessen. Can't come soon enough for me -- hiring of this guy just makes me want it to come sooner.
((and yes I know the "he'll probably get a raise" was humor/your shot at ESPN. But I figured I would use it to retell the harsh reality coming for ESPN. I like hearing it so much ).

Guy looks a little fruity. The closest he probably got to competitive sports is when he snuck into the locker room and suspended himself from the roof using the used jock straps that the football players in his school discarded after practice.

Given that I have no intention of watching or reading anything produced by ESPN, this is all really meaningless to me. When this troll writes his defense of ESPN raking us over the coals once again, I won't be reading it anyway. So....

He mad

“And given the multitude of touch points we have with our audience, it’s imperative that the public editor have the breadth of experience and journalistic credibility to serve as an advocate and explainer for fans across all media.”

Yeah, umm..... about that....

Not so much, with this guy.

In the carefully crafted ESPN PR release Stiegman suggested that the position will offer less constructive criticism has previous ombudsman columns did.

Said Stiegman: "This role is not about playing critic, per se, but instead helping demystify ESPN for fans, explaining our culture and standards, and commenting on journalism, coverage and programming decisions."

And there you have it.

I expect nothing less from ESPN, what will happen next the NFL hire a former Jets employee as the Commisioner or his top aid come from families that have worked for the Jets all their lives??

The world has gone to the dogs..
