Sign the Beast XXVI: Would you welcome DE Greg Hardy to the Patriots?

This is one of those litmus tests for people who take their sports too seriously.
I disagree. I don't take them too seriously. I just can't root for a guy knowing he did that to a woman.

You misunderstand me. I'm saying that anyone who doesn't care what horrible **** a dude did, so long as he helps their team win, takes sports too seriously.

It's going to be a while, if ever, before Greg Hardy is re-instated to the NFL. Minimum 8 game suspension coming up.

Right. I don't care if a guy is "classy" at all, and drugs or alcohol or whatever - fine. Adrian Peterson's a weird case and I'm not sure how I feel about it. But domestic violence, rape, murder... no way.

1 year......for the minimum.....no incentive......

I root for the Pats as a sports team. I don't use the individuals in the team as a representation of my character. So yeah, I would love him on the team.

No way. Total scumbag. Myra would not approve

No I would not. He beats women. He was found guilty and the only reason he gets away with it is because he requests a jury and the victim doesn't show? How convenient!

He's a piece of **** and Myra Kraft would be appalled!

Jesus H. Christ. He was convicted in June, appealed, and then settled with her. He's a scumbag.

A legal ruling has literally nothing to do with real-life innocence or guilt of an act.

Always remember, first blame the victim.

Ponder that!
I did not know that. Thanks for informing me. Any info on the out of court settlement?

I wouldn't want Rice so therefore I wouldn't want Hardy. Such a shame too, because he is a great player.

Since I don't know the details of the incident with Hardy, I'll reserve judgment on that.

That said, if we're talking a 1 year deal at an extreme discount given the suspension? Sure why not?

Had his case maybe been that he slapped her out of anger, while I wouldn't forgive, mistakes do happen. And I'd be alright with him playing on a very incentive laden deal.

But what he's accused of doing isn't a mistake, it's completely batshit insane. He's not worthy of being called human though. Keep that scum away.

Personally i think Hardy is an amazing player who fits a real need on this team, but with his past i don't see us signing him.

I'll pick him up at the airport.

Exactly, I don't really judge people I don't know like that. I'd sign him in a second.

1000% yes

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I like the patriots football team. I'm under no delusions that most of the players are actually good people. I couldn't care less about what they do off the field as long as they contribute to winning games.

So you'd be fine bringing Hernandez back if he gets off on some kind of technicality then? Just trying to find the line here is all.

I'm certainly not going to stop rooting for the Patriots if they sign Hardy, but my preference would be to not have to deal with that at all.

I hear you. I just can't summon up enough of the fake moral outrage to give a damn about Greg Hardy's personal life. I'm not running background checks on my landscaper, and that's a lot more up close and personal than a bunch of guys I watch play a game.
