Johnny come lately? Fairweather?
Unfair....I've supported the Pats for 25 years and didn't know until about 2 weeks ago who coaches the Pro Bowl teams. Outwith the US the Pro Bowl is an irrelevance and is almost completely ignored

I think Karlso Danby will be the #1 target of BB and SP in the offseason. He could be signed for $ 5 million or so. Dansby solidifies the only group of players that are in need of new players. I expect Colvinn to renegotiate his contract, and Dansby's addition would allow Jr to retire and Tedy to become the part-time player-leader that fills the third ILB position behind AD and Karlos.

That leaves Vrabel and Colvin with Pierre backing them up and maybe a high draft pick added to the mix. Vrabel, AD, Tedy, and Karlos have all played both ILB and OLB so there is plenty of versatility. Half or more of the money needed to pay Karlos would come from Colvin's renegotiation, and Izzo's Tetirement, and the savings from Chad Brown's salary.

Tthat still leaves money enough to resign Asante and Moss.

Hard to believe Dansby will hit the open market, but then again, we are talking about the Cardinals.

Would love to see Karlos Dansby brought in

FYI - He and the Cardinals have been talking about an extension. If they do not reach a deal, the Cardinals can always tag him.

If I were Dansby, testing free agency would be a no brainer. Get off the Cardinals and on to a better team in a better city, at equal or greater pay.

It is a headscratch to me why so many free agents from ****ty teams resign without testing the market first.

I think at least 2 out of 3 Seau, Bruschi, Harrison returns. I don't have a crystal ball, but I don't see those guys walking.

Asante, sure, he's gone.

Here's the first google link for 08 free agents:

You might be right about 2 of 3, but if Seau or Bru comes back they will not be everydown LBs so in affect they still need FA bodies out there because we know a rookie won't play in year 1 for BB.

$7-8M per year is a lot for a LB, especially when we have Colvin $8+, Thomas $6+, Vrabel $4+ on the books.

Personally, I know Dansby is a sexy name, as most players we haven't watched are, but I would rather sign Samuel.

Remember that getting a starting LB and a goaline TE for 4M is a deal in today's market. Also, I believe that it has been established that Colvin is not going to see all 8M from the Pats.

I'm surprised there isn't more fervor to sign Asante, a shut down corner is pretty valuable in this league in most systems.

To me he's easily the Pats best corner and a top playmaker.

He allows the defense the freedom to not cheat a safety over the top on that side every play.

I'm not sure who is in the Pats back up slot there, but it just seems that would be a pretty big loss. Although, I'm not sure who will be available at the 5 spot in the draft.

I think there is plenty of fervor to sign Asante, but we live in BB's world. I can't speak for everyone, but I have repeated the mantra "In Bill I Trust" over and over when players I love walk away (still won't say the kicker's name).

It's a pretty simple philosophy here, you will get paid what they see as fair, if you're looking for insane dollars, you will not get them. That philosophy has worked, who am I to question.

And I would guess its right, that someone will offer him big time money, makes sense. Heck, BB made Troy Brown a viable situatonal Defensive Back, I suppose we'll see.

I'm just of the thought that Asante is a top 5 or so corner. He doesn't fit what the Colts do scheme wise, but if a team thinks he can shut down another teams best receiver, he will get paid by someone, no doubt.

It's hard for me to judge, overall, the Pats need very good LBs, whereas with the Colts, they've lost a starting LB every year for like 5 years, so it's not as important, imo.

Logic says to me, the Pats will see a decline in several "leader" type players in the next 2 years on D, so it'll be interesting how they go about it.

A Thomas seems like a very good start, I have no idea what Meriweather can do, but I know he was picked high. I like Ty Warren for sure.

It'll just be interesting, alot of times theres not room for nostalgia on rosters.

i think you guys will go after michael turner

I know it won't happen, but I would love to see them get Karlos Dansby....

The market looks deep at LB, but real thin at DB.

Established by who? US? We don't make the decisions. Unless your BB or SP in disguise, nothing has been established.

*I gave up long time ago trying to predict the future, made my head hurt*

Tossing out a sleeper for the free agent market....
