NEW ARTICLE: Breer: Smith-Schuster’s Knee “A Mess,” May Affect WR Approach

Are you using a radar gun to state Juju is faster?

NEW ARTICLE: Breer: Smith-Schuster’s Knee “A Mess,” May Affect WR Approach

They signed Juju as an improvement over Jakobi Meyers, otherwise they should've just re-signed Jakobi Meyers.

Patriots Pregame Thread 2023 Week 2 OFFICIAL Pre-Game Thread: Patriots vs Dolphins (EDIT: was Phish chatter)

This game is a must win for them. This is where the Pats can show they are ready to fight for the division with the Rodgers injury and Buffalo looking shaky early. Time to make a statement.

Patriots Pregame Thread 2023 Week 2 OFFICIAL Pre-Game Thread: Patriots vs Dolphins (EDIT: was Phish chatter)

Sure, but the Dolphins have looked very good on offense under Tua for a while now. It's not like they've only had success against Staley. Since the start of 2022 they are 5th in the league in offensive EPA/Play, and that includes the games Bridgewater/Skylar Thompson started.

Burrow/Bengals and Chiefs/Mahomes will be more than fine.

Content Post Idle thoughts: Moral victory, or Lost opportunity....

I think people severely underestimate Mac's mobility in general. He's not a statue, he can escape the pocket and even pick up some yards with his legs, but I think the arm is fringe at best, I'm probably even more down on that tool than most here. Yesterday every single ball he threw towards the...

Content Post Idle thoughts: Moral victory, or Lost opportunity....

To me Mac has an issue that is very clear: he is great at diagnosing the defense pre snap, he'll get the team into the right play, he'll set the protection, he'll understand the front, the scheme, if there's pressure coming, he has a great grasp at the line of scrimmage. But if the ball is...

Content Post Idle thoughts: Moral victory, or Lost opportunity....

The decision to pick up his fifth year option has already been made unless he completely implodes. At worst, Mac is a competent starting QB who puts in the work during the week, that's worth the 24 million or so the option will cost them. Now, in terms of an extension I agree he has a ton to...

Content Post Idle thoughts: Moral victory, or Lost opportunity....

That's a little silly after Week 1, but one thing I'll say is that for all the talk of Juju's YAC ability and how much more dynamic he was than Meyers, I thought he lacked any burst and went down at the first sight of contact every time he had the ball in his hands. I have to admit I was a bit...

    Eagles impressed by Pats defense

I'll be honest, I kinda hate that we turned into the "look at the compliments the team that beat us is throwing our way!" fanbase. I know it's natural and I'm not chastising anyone, just a sad reality.

Content Post Idle thoughts: Moral victory, or Lost opportunity....

Lost opportunity. They were the better team for 50 minutes tonight. Offense had 13 drives, incredible field position all day long, multiple opportunities in the 4th and couldn't pull it off. It's not like they "battled" or "showed toughness", they outclassed the Eagles for the vast majority of...

Zappe is back as QB2 Corral on Reserve/Left Squad list

This stuff is so silly. He came in and played competently as a rookie last year, I think there are tons of backup QBs in the league who wouldn't be able to reproduce that, even considering the level of the competition. He's not good, he's not a starter, but as a backup from what we've seen to...

Pats picked as one of 8 teams with no shot at a SB this year

The Patriots have the 5th oldest roster in football (and this time there's not even the "but Hoyer and Folk!" excuse) but we're still talking of them as if they were in the middle of a youth movement with plenty of unproven guys expected to play big roles. Out of all their projected starters...

Pats picked as one of 8 teams with no shot at a SB this year

My guy, I'm just wondering if you could explain to me how, having ZERO CLUE what their young guys will develop into, someone could state they are better than the bunch of homegrown Hall of Famers and All Pros they had in 2001. I'll hang up and listen. Christ almighty.

Pats picked as one of 8 teams with no shot at a SB this year

Huh? Where is the Richard Seymour, Ty Law, Matt Light, Lawyer Milloy, Tedy Bruschi, Willie McGinest, Tom Brady level home grown talent on this team?
  16. RodThePat

Pats picked as one of 8 teams with no shot at a SB this year

2001 wasn't all about Brady, but I feel like people are underestimating his contributions to that title a bit. He was a fringe top 10 QB that year, albeit on low volume, but he played a very efficient game, ranked 6th in the league in passer rating, 11th in DVOA and made the (actual) Pro Bowl...

NFL News OT: News from other teams training camps

You're probably right, it's just that rookie receivers have historically been unproductive in this offense and people are approaching these kids with such crazy expectations that if Douglas ends the year with, say, 28 catches for 320 yards they'll be disappointed. Take any contributions from him...

NFL News OT: News from other teams training camps

I mean, he could play that role and still be substantially less productive than Edelman and Welker, like Amendola and Meyers were. Not to mention, where is Juju playing if Douglas is in the slot? I don't think he can get open consistently on the outside, especially against man, and we have him...

NFL News OT: News from other teams training camps

6 to 10 catch a game guy? That's 100+ catches a year. This is the 99th percentile outcome for top 10 picks at receiver, nevermind a 6th rounder. People really need to get their expectations in check with these rookie receivers. The last time a Patriot had over 100 catches in a season was in 2013.

    Video preview: Eagles vs Patriots

I'm not talking about the video, just saying that the raw numbers of sacks against scrambles doesn't tell me much if anything about their capacity to stop Jalen Hurts. They got trounced by QBs of a similar profile last year. "Sacks against scrambles" encompasses all of the QBs they faced.
