In the scenario where he ends up tanking and getting released after this year, banking a cool $18 mil would be great for him. How about a scenario where he keeps his previous contract and plays lights out for 6 games, takes the Colts 6-0 and then gets injured? He would be a free agent in 2020...

Seems like the Colts could still release him after this season if he sucks, and opt out of paying him the second part of what they agreed. If he remains a Colt, he would be among the lowest paid starting QBs in the league. Doesn’t seem like he’s taking them to cleaners at all.
