Patriots Pregame Thread Patriots @ Seahawks pre-game discussion

Pregame Discussion ahead of the LIVE game day discussion thread. The actual Game Thread will Open an hour ahead of kickoff.
I’m not going to go into analytics, because I’m drunk with friends, but you heard it here first.
Pats win this game by 2 scores.
I love it! The closer we get to gameday the better I feel.. they have gotten better internally and adding guys. Especially offensively.. I was watching an interview with Drake & AJ last night and they remind me of the relationship moss and brady had.

Hope Henderson can go but it doesn't look like it right now.
Mondre has had a great preseason and Gilliam is really gonna help. Seattle is tough to run on but they can't cover everything
Yeah. What is hendo dealing with anyway? Rham and Tanner Arkin the blocking TE will be key here sealing the edges and getting Seattle to have to cover everything. Seattle likes to sit in zone. That's a perfect scenario for Drake and Rham. Make the safeties have to play up on the LOS.

We did a good job on Shaheed in the SB. Hopefully again in a few days.

What has changed...

Underrated/important storylines:

-Their offensive coordinator Brian Fleury has never called plays offensively. His background is on defense. (Defensive quality control coach & ST are his forte..) He’s coached TEs in SF for 3 years.
I did not know this. I keep remembering what a disaster Matty P and Joe Judge were.

Four pages late to this game...

I am iffy on our chances ... Don't like the game being in Seattle... But, overall we did well on the road last year... We have a punchers chance there...

The OLine has to keep the pressure off of Maye...The line play in the SB was not good... And we saw the results... Hope they corrected whatever tell Seattle claimed they found for the SB...

McDaniels needs to call a good game... Get the receivers vertical to a degree, get the secondary away from the line... The line can then open holes for the runners... We have good backs but they are not dynamic... If we can run, we are that much better

Defensively, we need the front to create pressure... We were pretty bad at that last year... Ranked 22nd in sacks last year iirc... We cannot let darnold just sit back and pick us apart... We know he will collapse under pressure... We just have to bring it...

Knew it last year that we would face them in the opener... Gonna be a tough game to open the season with... Go Pats

I’m waiting to see Drake stand in against the pass rush.

For those of you that have never attended a game there, this is the loudest stadium in the league and extremely disruptive to the visitor's offense. QB can't change plays verbally, OL can't hear signals, etc. We haven't had much experience with that, and hopefully can cope with it.

That’s my concern for this game. Home opener for the defending champs and Super Bowl rematch.. place will be rockin. Upgraded toys on offense but will they be on the same page in the hostile environment week 1? I’ll be thoroughly impressed if so, would take a hell of a preparation and game plan by McD. Is the OL ready to redeem themselves against these guys? I think it’s all a lot to ask week 1. The D.. Honestly I don’t know what to expect from this group. I feel like it’s missing some important pieces but encouraged by the reports of them winning some battles against our talented offense throughout camp.

He's primarily a 1 trick pony but His speed is elite. Jamming Him at the Line will be pivotal.
Applying pressure on Darnold will certainly help!
We know we can apply pressure from the interior, need at least one of our Edge guys to step up.

Can Seattle still stop the run with a light front (big nickel)? If so, it will likely be a long day. With no Emmanwori and our new FB I like our chances though. And now we can put 3 big WRs on the field at once, would should help in the run game too.

I expect a lot of hurry-up from the Pats.

Does this make it imperative to win the toss and defer?

Theory is you let SEA do offense first. Let the crowd wear themselves out a little booing 3 yards and a cloud of dust and an incomplete ….. - - > 3 and out. ( Assuming our D is what we think / hope it is.)

I dont think the Pats win this one, gonzo or not, but they just seem to have some of the same problems from the SB, other than AJ.

What problems do you mean?
The biggest problem in the SB was the health and quality of the Oline, and the health of Maye.
Campbell is healthy. Wilson is healthy and back to his natural position. AVT is a huge upgrade at LG. Maye is healthy.
The D was fine for long stretches of the game before they finally wore out.
Darnold was 50%, 19/38 for 202 yds, the passing game was completely held in check.
They held the ball for almost 7 more mins than we did.
Our O struggled to possess the ball long enough to let the D rest.
They finally wore down and started giving up chunks in the run game.
All our problems came from the Oline being terrible, which gave Maye no time, which didn't open up rushing lanes, which didn't let us possess the ball, which wore the D out.

I do not agree we have the same problems as the SB.
