It's one thing to be a washed-up coach and no longer have the ability to run a program at an elite level. Happens to them all.

It's another thing to be loyal to a fault and enable/turn a blind eye to those in his inner circle who make him look like a fool professionally and take advantage of him.

Lombardi resigns as UNC investigators probe allegations of drug use, sex within football program

Lawyers investigating UNC football questioned people about allegations involving assistant Steve Belichick and, separately, about a possible sexual relationship between at least one employee and at least one player, people familiar with the probe tell WRAL. GM Michael Lombardi resigned Thursday.

For a person that seemed so particular about those around him, who he now surrounds himself with might be the most baffling thing to me in all his post-Patriots career.
