The Initial 53 Man Roster

I thought the Patriots would carry 7 WR's. I still think they would have kept Boutte if Kyle Williams looked like he wasn't ready and they weren't so weak at other positions. But that doesn't matter. It happened. I was wrong.

UFA rookies are not predictable. Yes you can't say someone will be injured, but you can say that everything is new to them, the players are faster and better, and bumps in the road are expected.

You got the bounce with Boutte, and i did with this.

Why is it so hard for you to accept this?
It’s not a competition.

But if Obiazor and Jacobs turn into good contributors this season, you will have been wrong. If they don’t I will have been wrong, but nothing precludes them from adding from another teams practice squad and improving in-season.

Nobody can be right or wrong now before a single regular season snap has happened. You guys are celebrating at the starting line.

Well then it must a competition to you because I wasn't even thinking along that line.

We discussed ad nauseum how rookie UFA's are rarely position contributors their first season.

But how are we doing week one?

From the reports, Britt and Brown were cut only to allow for the claims of Latu and Muamau. Since the Pats had to clear space before the two players going to IR were processed. Supposedly, both will be back.

What's a bit of a head scratcher is they cleared four spots yesterday.

More moves coming.

absolutely more coming
what we are seeing now is players protected or exposed based on the Pats believing other teams (or the players themselves) would be claimed or wanting to leave.
they seem to have an agreement with Brown and Britt, allowing them to protect Obiazor and someone else.
still a fluid situation with obvious more needed at ILB and Edge

He's learned some BS from Ring 6.
I’ve learned that Andy is no longer the only poster on here with whom arguing is like a land war in Asia.

And it’s not just Wozzy.

It takes two to tango and there’s a longer list than just two.

It gets tiresome watching them hog the floor dancing around the same positions again and again and crowding out real football discussions.

That wasn’t the conversation. You pivoted to that after I pointed out how a quarter of the league was undrafted.
But how are we doing week one?
Week one hasn’t happened yet, but three UDFA’s made the team.

The reason three UDFAs made the team is because so many of their draft picks have been busts.

Their Drafting have been good since Vrabel and Cowden came aboard.

Whatever are you talking bout?

7 picks made the team and several already look like solid career NFL players

The depth on the team should include the draft picks from the last 3 (or 4) years. The 2024 draft picks were a complete bust except for Maye so that leaves us with limited depth due to poor drafting.

We also traded away a 4th and two 6th round picks this year. 3 more prospects lost. They all add up.

Over the past 3 years, including Maye’s year where every player but Maye is gone

Canada made it because of Schooler's injury.
Arkin made it because of Hill's injury.

Jacobs deserved to make the team even with good drafts.

Yes the depth is depleted in areas because of the Maye draft.

Certain draft picks might have been cut with better veterans (Obiazor/Hutchins) and some veterans (Woods/Pettus) might have been too, as well as some of the waiver pickups/trades wouldn't have happened, but the UFA's weren't affected IMO.
