2026 Red Sox Thread

This is fun...but unsustainable.
Well, yeah, I don't think they'll play .900 ball for the rest of the year like they have in the last 20 games. But they might play .650 ball which will get them into the postseason. It is a wonderful affirmation about pitching quality. No Crochet, no Anthony, no hitting from the shortstop position...wow.

Fun to watch these days

The Sox could trade Gray at the deadline for one of the best prospects in baseball. At 36 how long will Gray's winning streak last?
When I'm stuck with a day
That's Gray
And lonely
I just stick out my chin
And grin
And say
Oh!
The Sonny will come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom
That tomorrow
There'll be Sonny!

Sonny Gray now 12-1 with a 2.48 ERA. 13 in a row and 18 out of 20.
Still not a deal I would have made with all the pitching they do have. Still waiting for the shoe to drop. Can't deny he has been very good but it also was a one year deal iirc with a mutual option for quite a bit. Gald he is performing for sure.

@maust @RobertWeathers
While I am happy for the players who are working their asses off that they've made this season relevant, it does take Breslow and John Henry off the hook a bit. Even if the wheels come off later this summer, they will be relevant at least until Labor Day and football season starts. That's all Henry gives a chit about.

The fact that Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer aren't with the club, and yet the team has jelled without them should be huge wakeup for everyone involved; players, coaches, staff, medical staff, all of it. The reported mixed messages being sent to players is not a good look. Meanwhile, their ace is sitting home. There's a lot of problems with this club still.

This enjoyable win streak is a bandaid.

Give this manager Two legit RH Power bats, and this team has a chance... Don't give them to him, and this season will end Exactly the same as Every season here has ended from 2019 onwards: with the sheeple holding Fools' Gold in their hands... or should that read, more Fools' Gold?

14 in a row now. Incredible. You gotta feel pretty good for Durbin though. Very much has some Pedey in '07 vibes.

Pedey broke out of it in early May, Durbin in mid-June. Here’s hoping he catches up. I have a sneaking suspicion Sox fans are going to thank Breslow for this trade long after the GM is gone.

Yeah I am thinking somewhere along the same lines. He is starting to show impressive stuff and his defense at 3rd? Holy hell he's a future GG winner imo.

Felger and Mazz were deriding him yesterday and OF COURSE everyone wishes it was Bregman and not him.

Cmon man, why are you listening to those clowns. You know better

They're giving us a helluva ride.
Lot of dirt dogs on this squad.
If Crochet and Anthony can get back to full health with enough time to find their grooves- theyre as good as anyone. Remai s to be seen if they get back.
Pitching gets magnified in the playoffs.
Slugging doesn't win you **** in the postseason.
I'd rather see them go after another stud reliever than a slugger who either homers or strikes out. Can't trust those dudes in clutch moments.
Give me Mason Miller.

Quick disclaimer. I'm in the UK so I don't get to watch full games, just the highlights on YT each morning which, coincidentally, has becaome a bit of a highlight of the day of late.

I want to ask. When Tracy took over, I noticed for a few weeks the team seemed to get really aggressive on the bases - lots of being thrown out at third or at home. I'm starting to wonder whether a) that was a strategy from Tracy to get this team to be more aggressive/less passive and b) whether that has been a catalyst for the streak they're currently enjoying. Am I off base, or is there something there? They are less passive and there's clearly a fire there now.
