He chose the agent; he can fire the agent. This habit of excusing players' behavior on the basis of their athletic prowess or potential is a societal disease, frankly. It is a disease of long standing, of course, but the moral blindness of fans is deepening in a manner one must regard as decadent. It is one of several aspects of he contemporary athletic scene which make of fandom an increasingly guilty pleasure for many, yours truly certainly included.

I understand conceptually what you are saying, however in this case you are bucketing his contractual uncertainty with "behaviour". I don't see it that way, to each their own,

I’m trying to figure out what makes him a douche.

I’m not personally acquainted with, nor do I believe anyone else commenting on here is, so I’d like to know what primary sources are the foundation os such characterization, and what they’re saying to merit it.

My default assumption is that those making such comments believe he’s hard to deal with, apparently viewed from the team perspective, but I’m open to hearing reasons more substantive than just boiling down to “I don’t like his results, or his style.”

His recent history with the Pats is interesting:
- Ja'Lynn Polk, 2nd '24 - Signed June 12th. Last member of Patriots rookie class to sign.
- Christian Gonzalez and Keion White, 1st and 2nd '23 - Signed July 21st. Last Patriot picks to sign.

I think this is a grey area. Yes an agent should do everything in his power for his rookie client, conversely it should never reach a point where the kid is missing training camp.

This development time is too important to miss over a few dollars and these contracts have a standard set up years prior.

Some agents have reputations as being difficult to deal with, I don’t think in doing this they’re always doing what’s best for their client. Get the kid in camp on time.

Like I said earlier in this thread, Jacas hasn’t really missed time until he starts missing actual training camp practices. Let’s see where he is next week.

I would think the overall depth at edge and ongoing Jacas issues, but wouldn't view waiving an undrafted rookie as anything more than knowing he's not going to make the roster and giving him a chance to latch on elsewhere when camp injuries start

So, this is not unusual negotiating for this agent. OK, that's fine. July 23rd isn't unusual for him. So, we will wait and see. I suspect that we should be less concerned given the history of the agent with the patriots.

My memory may not be perfect but back in 2002 Daniel Graham was drafted in the first round and after a long protracted negotiation, he fired his agent and with a new one finally signed a contract in late July right around the time training camp opened.
The issue then was a 5th year not injury related guarantee.
