PATRIOTS NEWS Mandatory Minicamp 6/9-11

Breaking New England Patriots Team News
Hollins makes 4.2 million a year. That's what a #3 WR makes.

Boutte probably wants close to Doubs like 2 years 25-30 million.

If the Patriots thought Boutte was a #2, they probably could have had him for less than Doubs.

Right or wrong, the board has to accept that the team has decided Boutte is not a #2, and that's where Boutte wants to be paid.
To be clear I was saying shedding Hollins makes room on the roster/snap count, not the money

I hear you.

But the snap count is tied to the money.

Signed for 4 million a year the team could keep Boutte as a 3/4/5 and get away with a lower snap count.

Plus your comment was about the money.

Kinda hoping they find a way to pay Boutte. He is saying the right things, and is young with room to grow. Brown only has 2-4 years left playing at a high level. Keep developing Boutte. Money is definitely a factor though.
The only people who think trading Boutte is gonna happen is the media and the fans. I doubt the Pats are even entertaining the idea. Injuries happen and that rooms now a strength. You don't mess with that unless you have to.

No need for me to ask ChatGPT. You can type it in ChatGPT if you do not like my query. You can query any phrase you like if you believe I was errant. Let everyone know.
OK. Here is what I got, last year his top speed on any play was 20.2 MPH which is less than it was in 2024 when it was 21.05 MPH on a 67 yard TD in the first game of the year. Uh oh maybe he is drastically slowing down as this is .85 MPH and 4% less. But strangely in 2023 his fastest time was also 20.2 MPH in any game. His top speed was as fast in 2025 as it was in 2023. It looks like 2024 was an outlier due to the large gain and perhaps being the first game of the year. I would like to have a result of 10 each which would tell us more but that was not easily avaialabe so went with the top speed each year. Can't we just be excited for landing a true number 1 instead of saying his knees are falling apart and he is slowing down? Don't get it, I really don't. I can see Philly fans banging the guy constantly, but I find it strange that Pats fans are doing the same thing.

Edit Note - I posted this without reading the rest of the thread after I posted yesterday. I see that scott99 posted the info about 2025 and 2024, but not the comparison to 2023 so left the post as is.

And I know it's been brought up, but many fans and media for that matter said Moss had "lost his legs" and was a malcontent when we traded for him.
If I recall he worked out alright.
Let's see what happens between the lines.

Can he catch the ball?

There may be some merit to playing it out this year, letting him compete and show his stuff when surrounded by other talented guys. I am sure in his mind he'd like to go be "the guy" somewhere and prove himself in order to get a big offer in free agency but that is just not likely.

Play out the year and then let him see what offers his agent hears in the lead-up to free agency. If he is absolutely blown out of the water with an offer, or it feels like he has a big market, then it is what it is, but in all likelihood he probably only gets something around Doubs-level money and the Pats would likely be willing to pay that especially if he has continued to prove himself and stayed a good soldier.

Anyone also having problems playing the bluesky vids from yesterday and today (eg the Chris Price one above)...I press play and nothing happens

From a player's perspective, the last year of a contract is always awkward. Risk of injury - a bad injury and you're screwed. The Patriots certainly aren't going to offer an extension any time soon, so clearly he would prefer a trade and at least some guaranteed money. He has only $46k of his $3.67M salary this year guaranteed - typical for a rookie contract.
