Lots of low-percentage camp tryouts make sense to me.
I guess. When a guy messes up that bad at kicking field goals for the other New York team, I'm not sure it reassures your fanbase to bring him in even as a camp body.

Remember his fifth-year tender is going to be on the order of $45M now, and $50M+ if he makes the Pro Bowl on the first ballot next year.
We should understand that only one QB in the history of the NFL has won the SB counting for more than 14% of the salary cap (that would be $42M this year).
This is exactly how he handled his last free agency, by the way.
