Jets waived Younghoe Koo - K. His stay didn't last loing with them.

Damn. Then I looked up the top contracts and dak has 60 million with a bunch of other qbs at $55.

Drake is gonna cost at least $55 million very soon

And Dak's extension was two years ago. Given how much inflation there is, including in the NFL, I would not be surprised to see Maye command a similar, if not slightly higher figure.

Unfortunately, Mayfield proved all of his doubters correct last season - he is not a guy who is going to lift your team to new heights, he's just an average, competent QB. He is a purely middle-of-the-road starting QB.

10th in yards
27th in int
7th in TD's
12th in QBR

If TB pays him that much - or any team, rather - that's a wild, wild, wild precedent to be set. It would literally be saying "hey, if you've been pretty mid in all categories (with insane receivers, none the less), let's reset the market so you get more than all QB's in the league" lmao.

We should understand that only one QB in the history of the NFL has won the SB counting for more than 14% of the salary cap (that would be $42M this year).

No team has EVER won the Super Bowl while paying a defensive player 10% of the salary cap ($30m in 2026 cap money).

Folks think that we will be soooo good in paying our other players that we will be able to pay our QB $60M and our CB $36M. Even when cap goes up be another 1/3 to $400M, that would be 15% and 9%

I'm not sure that I understand the fuss.

Mayfield isn't ready sign what's on the table and doesn't want to be distracted after Training Camp starts.

We certainly don't know the demands of the team of him. Rumors are sort of worthless in matters like this.

He said that he'll be ready to negotiate again after the season unless there is a deal before camp.

If nothing works out, he is a free agency or a $51M franchisee.

This is exactly how he handled his last free agency, by the way.
