Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
I disagree that Hurts was a game manager. He was a big factor in that SB win, and probably wins SB MVP if they had beaten KC the first time.

As I always said when people used to diss Brady by calling him a game manager or system’s QB, you still have to make those throws. It’s the QB throwing those passes. Hurts was excellent in both of his SB games, despite losing one.
Hurts is a very limited passer. When you struggle to crack 4,000 passing yards in this era of the NFL, there's a problem. Not only would they not have even sniffed the Super Bowl without Barkley having the year he had, but they still would've taken beatdowns from either SF or Detroit who imploded with injuries. Even during Barkley's career year, the Eagles were still an afterthought during that season. Many people forget this.

The Chiefs sold out so badly on Barkley that it allowed all their receivers to be ridiculously wide open.

If he’s not a Patriot by 4:01pm on June 1st……

I am guessing they will announce the deal a couple days before 6/01 and state that it will be officially processed that day. Brown won’t be allowed to practice with the team or anything until then but they will be able to get all the fanfare out of the way. So, I am guessing we are probably less than two weeks out.

While hurts deserves his props for winning a superbowl one cannot forget he was nearly traded to Seattle for Russell Wilson prior to AJ and Saquon.. something became problematic between hurts, AJ, sirranani and the organization. Eagles invested financially in hurts so he will remain for now.. he struggles with tight throws and down field accuracy.. I do like hurts as a player but in comparison to what Drake has had around him to him to hurts.. Drake become an all pro in his second season and made it to a superbowl with an
Evolving roster. If Drake had the Eagles offense line last season they win the superbowl.

Here is the thing that I have come to believe more and more with every passing year. EVERY year there will be a crop of 20 odd players who have the potential to become NFL level WR's. Every year! They throw the ball so much in the college game that WR's get a chance to be in more and more plays and develop their skills.

Think about it. Every year they find kids like Dixon out in the boonies. If he had those numbers and measurables and played for say, Kent State, he would have been a 2-4th round pick. If he had them at an SEC school, he'd have been a first rounder. And the funny thing is that EVERY team thinks they got a Dixon on their roster from the UDFA class.

It is clearly the most available position to find plentiful numbers of the raw talent you need to be an NFL WR. I know the WR position salaries have exploded just like the QB's and Edge guys, but I believe a recalculation is coming, simply because the numbers of athletically qualified WR's dictate it. Supply and demand at work. You will still pay a premium for the truly great players, but for the other 85-90% of group, there will always be guys out there to develop. Dixon has me more excited than ANY of the 6 guys we actually picked on day 3.

The facts don’t really bear this out though. There is on average, less than 2 undrafted wr’s per year who put up even 20 catches in a season. Since Thielen is retired-ish, the next best set is Jennings, Meyers and Bourne. Probably the most guy is Tutu Atwell. Maybe it all changes this year- but even with the transfer portal making it easy to elevate your situation- it hasn’t happened much recently.
