DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION 2026 NFL Draft: Day 1

Wow. Rutledge to the Texans..
 
Jermod McCoy really taking a fall. BPA, aside from medical eval.
 
Lot of players that had consensus 2nd rd grades going.

At the moment, LB looks solid but 31 may be too high.

Howell at edge?
 
If CB Jermod McCoy is still available at 28-30, I'd be tempted to go that route. CB is an underrated need for us. Gonzalez wants to be the highest paid CB in NFL history and has previously spoken about wanting to retire before he turns 30. That doesn't sound like a guy very passionate about the game. He's also not a playmaker. He only has 3 career interceptions in 34 career games, including none last season (yes, I know he got one in the playoffs).

Is that the profile of someone we should give the vault to? I say take the CB and prepare to ship out Gonzalez before the trade deadline. I would love to get something similar to what the Jets got for Sauce Gardner.

It also doesn't help that the Jets, Dolphins, Browns and Cowboys picked twice this round.
