Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
This is a MASSIVE overpay. This is a deal that only Howie Roseman's best friend would postulate, or someone who hates the Pats and wants them to screw themselves. And I'm trying to be nice about it. I'd be hesitant to offer a 27 2nd and Douglas or Chism.

Thankfully nothing like this will EVER happen,
I'm pretty sure the Patriots offer is a 2nd rounder. And since the trade can't happen until June 1st it's gonna be 2027 picks as well.

We might throw in a guy like Douglas or Chism as a sweetener. I would hope we can keep Boutte but we shall see.
Maybe the Eagles would just prefer an extra 4th round pick over a player at the end of the day.

So should we trade every 2026 draft pick for veterans that are more likely to contribute this year?
If various teams offered great value for each of our draft picks, then absolutely we should.
Totally selling out the future eh?
Of course, your ridiculous hypothetical is not even remotely in the realm of possibility, which only serves to show how poor your thesis is.
Thank goodness, given your even more ridiculous and totally disastrous suggestion in response.

I would evaluate each trade on a case-by-case basis, but absolutely no draft pick is untouchable.

Only a moron would consider that a "totally disastrous" strategy.

Are you arguing that Douglas or Chism might be worht as much as a 4th rounder to PHI?

Nope. I'm saying they might prefer an extra 4th round pick to a player swap.

The only guy who is arguably worth the 4th is Boutte because we drafted him with a 4th but we probably want to keep him if possible.

You said you would trade all the draft picks. That’s what “every draft pick” would be. That’s not the same as saying you would trade any draft pick. Only a moron would fail to see the difference.

Maybe you didn’t clearly express what you meant, but that’s no reason for calling me a moron. There’s really no reason to call anyone a moron, except attempted kindergarten playground insults.

Perhaps this will help

You said you would trade all the draft picks.
I said I would be willing to trade every draft pick if the right deal was offered for each of them but I also stated that it just wasn’t in the realm of possible that we made roughly 10 deals with 10 different teams. I said every trade would have to be evaluated on a case by case basis and no pick, or groupings of picks, are untradeable if the right deal comes along..

Nice try misrepresenting what I said. But yes, only a moron would call that a disastrous strategy.

Awwwwww….. did I hurt the poor widdle crybully’s feeling?? The poor baby throws out insults but can’t take ‘em….

I wonder if Wolf with his GB contacts helped facilitate this trade

Boutte was a sixth round pick.

Trading multiple picks for a WR & paying him $12.5M in 2027 & guaranteeing a FA WR $5M aren't WR3 & WR4 moves. These are moves you make to not be forced to draft a rookie early. AJ Brown is as good as gone & when the pats acquire him for less than a 2027 1st they'll have an A offseason.

Maye

Stevenson/Henderson

Brown
Doubs
Boutte/Williams (Boutte could be included in Brown trade)
Henry/day 2 rookie

Campbell
Vera-Tucker
Wilson
Onwenu
Moses

Jones/Ponder
Williams
Barmore
Rd 1 rookie/Landry

Spillane
Elliss

Gonzalez
Davis
Jones
Byard
Wilson

I'm surprised to see posts that the pats shouldn't acquire Brown and/or they are far away from SB contention. Thieir 2026 roster could be their best since 2016 IMO.

It's the offseason so all kinds of rumors are flying around. The past few days there has been speculation that AJ Brown could be traded. And guess what our Patriots could be his final destination.

There's no doubt a bona fide #1 might take this offense to the next level. Obviously OL is still the biggest need but we also didn't do much with our pass catchers when facing elite defenses. Diggs was very quiet in the playoffs. But so was Maye. Perhaps AJ Brown can be the difference maker.

How much would he cost. Our 1st round pick or would it be a 2nd plus extras?

Finally Brown might need a new contract if he comes over. The way it is structured now is very weird. He only counts for 1m in salary but his option bonuses are 17m, 21m, and 26m respectively going forward. What in the world does this mean cap-wise?

Excellent questions; let's ask Dianna...

This definitely confirms AJ moving on.
Alrighty then.

Obviously, it won’t be until June, but I told y’all AJB would most certainly be a Patriot. It made too much sense. Everything aligned (our need for a high caliber receiver, AJB’s dissatisfaction with PHI’s offensive philosophy, surplus of/sufficient draft capital, AJB’s love for NE, connection to Vrabel in Tennessee, Brown’s videos flaunting Edelma’s jersey, Brown crying that we didn’t draft him etc etc…) Now, Philly goes out and acquires two more receivers (Hollywood & Wicks). Yeeeaaah…The writing was/is on the wall. This was probably thee most telegraphed pre-acquisition in the last 10-15 years. Anyone still in doubt should probably go blow off some steam with Diana in Sedona…Nailed it..
