Comparing Ty Simpson to Fernando Mendoza convinced me he'll be drafted higher than people think

Simpson isn't a better prospect than Mendoza, but the Alabama QB is in a similar tier from a traits standpoint.

If this isn't proof that calling them "top 30" visits is a misnomer, I don't know what is.

[To clarify: he strikes me as, essentially, Drake Maye but mid.]

So, he averaged over 313 yards and 3 passing TDs per game during his ENTIRE College career..
One thing not mentioned: He had double digit interceptions (13, 11, 13, 14) during his 4 seasons.

If he can ever get it so that he's consistently using his legs and hips to throw, he'll be an even better passer as one of the knocks is that he "arms" his throws..

We just had news that our QB coach had a meeting with Athan Kaliakmanis. This is quite interesting because he's coming from an offence that liked to throw vertically to two big outside receivers - KJ Duff and Ian Strong. Also on passes over 20 yards, only Mendoza and Joey Aguilar graded higher than Kaliakmanis among draftable QBs.

Just a name to remember on Saturday.

It's an offense that looks quite Drake Maye-ish.
