Cool Link VIDEO: Efton Chism Getting After It

If I'm Wolf/Vrabel, now that Brissett has been named the short-term starter for Arizona, I'm reaching out to them to see if they'll offer a late round pick for Douglas at the draft. This would give Brissett a weapon he knows well and would help the Cardinals offense.
Does MHJ still play there?

Some people seem obsessed that he'll never make it. Some obsessed that he will. Ah, the free debate market!

Personally, I think he has fantastic upside. With the chances he's had, he always seems to get open. Last year, I think they didn't have any snaps available to developing another receiver. Some veterans needed to play. And we had some younger players that needed to get reps. There's only so many targets in a game.

4 WR's, 2 RB's and 1-2 TE's makes 7-8. There are and should be few receptions for the 4th or 5th WR in this Offense.
I don't think that there should be 6th WR. A 5th isn't necessary as a receiver. Certainly, a 6th WR isn't.
==========
I do understand labeling a player a 6th WR if he is our primary punt returner, kick returner, or a key protector for the punt returner, or even a key ST specialist on several ST unit. For, that is simple for labeling. The player described here is a STer as Slater was.

In the best case, it is the FIFTH WR who is important as a STer and is an emergency #4 WR of there is an injury.
===============
Fo me, we are fine on the 53 with
Doubs, Brown/Pop, Hollins, Boutte, Williams
or with another replacement for Pop if we don't trade for Brown.
===========
And yes, I do want to carry the usual 25th player on Offense who is key in one of the ST roles.
====
IMO, Chism isn't that player. If he is a future #3 WR and currently a #5, then he will win that position in camp or not.

Personally I feel like the add should be at TE.. while Henry is solid. We need to draft a pass catching TE.. really believe that's the direction we should be looking in the passing game. Go figure we project to have a smash mouth running game the way the emphasis is being put on the trenches.. we have enough at WR and if Kyle Williams makes that expected jump now we really will have something. Just my opinion.

Henry is not a great blocker. We already swapped Hooper for Hill, which appears to be a planned move, because the Pats value blocking. You could be right that the Pats will draft a two way TE that is much better at blocking. Having said that, I think the Pats will probably pivot to BPA, either a WR (probably an X) or TE.

I am curious. Why do you post "Just my opinion?". You think the other posters might be confused and think that you are quoting someone else and not yourself?

The 3rd or 4th round seems a reasonable place to find the replacement for Henry.

Agreed. As Henry isn't a great blocker at all. That's likely why Hill was signed wich i love that pick up as well. I can't speak enough to the additions of AVT, Hill and Gilliam to add an attitude on offense in the trenches and power in the run game as well as passing. I always tend to post my opinion to fend off some of the "my post is always right sort of posters " LOL of course your not in that group my guy!

So just in my fan view I see TE is where we can find that additional difference maker I the draft.

Henry is also one of the oldest guys on the roster, they have to plan for the future. There are some good mid round TE prospects in this draft.

Hopefully Hill can be what Hooper was, Hooper was a good pass blocker but he was not a big overpowering run blocker and neither is Hill. People are presuming Hill will be the #2, hopefully he’ll be good enough to be a #3.

They also have Dippre coming back as a potential big power blocking TE, hopefully he has worked his tail off this offseason. If he has and they draft a good prospect there may be a roster crunch by the end of camp at the position. They have a decent group entering the draft and UDFA, add competition.Younger, better, cheaper…

Agreed 100%.. forgot about Dippre. He got injured in camp last season? Same for Lan larison? I just like thow whole emphasis Vrabel's committing to beefing up the trenches. Vrabel's is building the 90 man roster. Everyone will have ample opportunities to compete for a spot in training camp. Competition breeds the best out of everyone. I like the Hill pick up because he's s guy based on his attitude that wants to come in an do the dirty work. Also R. Gilliam another tough beefy guy who wants to come in and dominate the trenches. He can line up in the backfield with alot of sets that pony formation. We need to be able to score from the half inch line in the red zone this season. Having the TEs and FBs helps this tremendously.

It was going to be difficult for Dippre to crack the roster with Henry and Hooper staying mostly healthy. They stuck with a lot of 6th linemen looks but you have to assume they want a big blocking TE who can catch a little. At 260 pounds that could be Dippre or a rookie.

Hill is scrappy, moves well in space and gets a hat on a hat. We’ll see what he can provide. He played a lot for Miami last year but their TE unit was a wasteland last year. Being the best of a bad lot isn’t necessarily a good thing. We’ll see….

Yes I remember being behind two vets was going to be an uphill battle for Dippre he'll have plenty of opportunities this camp.

Yeah Hill is a guy that any time that wants tough minded and hard nosed players would want.. he seems to be totally content with his role.. one thing I like is Vrabel's very open to guys about how he wants to utilize them to maximize thier potential that thus helps the team.

Hill not only played a lot of offensive snaps in Miami, but played a lot of special teams as well. That and his youth bodes well for his ability to make the team.

That is even better. Because our coverage on STs last season left more to be desired. Vrabel mentioned this recently.. we allowed far to many returns beyond the 35-40 yards line last season.. that's to easy.

Hooper didn’t stay here, he’s gone back to Atlanta.

I like what I’ve seen and heard about Hill.

Westover may go back to TE, so with him and Dippre we are not desperate to add TE depth. Adding another developmental player would be fine but NBD either way.

I don’t see Westover making this team again.

I don’t think they have any desperate needs, but with Henry’s age and unknown behind him, it’s as big a need as they have.
