Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
The Experts on here thinks MHJ sucks like we have better than him on our Team.
Two things can be true at once:

1. Acknowledging a player would potentially be an improvement over what we currently have

2. Not being desperate to trade multiple day 1 and 2 draft picks for that player

Ricky Williams would have been an upgrade to Terry Allen for us back in 1999. That's a fact. It doesn't mean the Mike Ditka trade would have been the best thing for our team going forward.

I will call suicide prevention for some of you when they make the Trade for A.J. Brown. Don't jump guys: there's more to life.

I'm just surprised this is being treated as actual news.
Once everyone realized no one was giving up multiple firsts (this is months ago at this point, now), everyone knew he wouldn't be traded before June 1st.

Never once have I been against trading for AJ Brown. I've simply always been against any insinuation that not being willing to trade "whatever it takes" for Brown or any other WR means we're not interested in the WR room being any better.

I would welcome AJ Brown to the Pats for a reasonable price, and at this point in his career a #1 plus is not reasonable.

Howie Roseman is the one over a barrel with a problem, not the Pats, and we don’t need to throw him a lifeline.

I am not willing to short circuit the Pats’ rebuild for a splash acquisition that we don’t need.

And we don’t NEED AJ Brown.

*Sighs* but Drake Maye does.

No, Drake does NOT need Brown.

The Pats made it to the SB last year, and the loss was because of the OL, NOT the receivers.
Who can't separate.

I'm not sure where you saw anyone say that Harrison " sucks?" So I guess you will have to show us that quote? What I said was that you wanted the Patriots to take MHJ over Maye and " build around him." Which was a monumentally stupid idea. You build around the guy who handles the bail 60 times a game, not the guy who handles it 6.

And what's really comical 2 is that you are questioning the judgement of other posters, and mocking them as " experts," when it's you, in fact, who considers yourself the " expert" on wide receivers, when your only qualification is that you want every receiver who becomes available, and have absolutely horrible judgement, such as believing that Calvin Ridley, who put up the same numbers as Austin Hooper, is worth 90 million $$$, and you said that just a couple of weeks ago. So you shouldn't throw rocks in a glass house 2, as your own words come back to bite you in the ass every time.

Or running backs who can’t run.

Hmmmm…. is there a common denominator between RBs who can’t run and WRs who can’t separate.

How much time should a receiver need to be able to separate?

Do you think the Pats win the SB last year if they had AJ Brown?

I don’t.

Well Wolf agreed with me: he would have Traded for Aiyuk too if he wanted to come here two years ago Mayo year. I'm surprised you're are not asking for Wolf's head or have him tarred and feathered.

Yess yess!

A.J. Brown is the "bright shiny object" who is likely to bring problems, based on his track record, along with his talents.
I think it's better to "pass" and use the cap space and draft picks to continue to build a "younger, faster, better" team.
They have a franchise QB, one of the top HC's and probably the best OC in the NFL.

The Pats were, to all but the most optimistic, two or three seasons ahead of schedule last year and beneficiaries of scheduling ("you can only play the teams you play," I understand that) and, vs. Houston and Denver, a combination of really bad weather and a critical injury to Bo Nix. Still, 15 other AFC teams sat out the Super Bowl, while the Pats fought their way into the game.

I think the goal for 2026/27 is to win the Division, be the team no one wants to play in January and watch it all come together with SB runs for several seasons to come afterwards.

This is the core issue there and why I don’t really worry about Brown being a “diva” like many others do. In reality, Hurts is the diva and Brown is tired of it as I am sure many other teammates are. I would guess if Brown himself was a true “diva” he would be much more vocal in public about this.
I think many fans also forgot Ross Howie nearly traded hurts before AJ got there.. in watching some eagles games this season one can see a clear regression in hurts game.. he has the weapons..

Hard to excuse...

Does anyone from watching Brown over the past couple seasons feel like he’s a guy who could get disgruntled if he doesn’t get the ball enough and quit on the team… Or that he just hasn’t looked that motivated to be out their playing anymore. Maybe a change of venue will be good for him, of course… But I don’t know. I just feel like there are a lot of red flags on this guy….. and now there’s news out that he may have some knee injuries. He’s been dealing with… We shall see

Why would anyone think that?

Because he did it last year?
