Jared Wilson will move to Center

Campbell-AVT-wilson-onwenu-moses is good progress from where they were in 2024 especially considering the number of holes elsewhere that we had to address since then. Expecting another couple draft picks on the OL.

Campbell and Wilson to a lesser extent are major keys here. If we get the Campbell pre injury and an improved wilson back in his natural position we are competing for another sb for sure. Campbell is probably our biggest key for 2026 aside from Maye obviously.

The only position that is secure for the next few years, at least (for good or bad) is LT. Everything else is up for grabs. LG has a stopgap. C is uncertain. RG has an expiring and expensive contract. RT is a stopgap. Backups are unknown. Said it before... if the whole draft is OL, I wouldn't raise a single protest.

In news that will shock no one, LG Jared Wilson is moving positions... going from LG to Center...Alijah Vera-Tucker will take over the LG spot...

figure a new look line will help take some of the pressure off the left sign of the line... the lack of experience there last year was well documented, as there were some poor returns as the season dragged on...

Campbell - Vera Tucker - Wilson - Onwenu - Moses

Not a bad set up for the line going into otas and camp...

Thinking, at this point, 31 will be used on a RT... its probably going to be bpa.. the best skill positions should be off the board by the time we get to 31... unless we trade up (eh, doubtful, but it could happen, depending on how far we want to move)

i know the line has been discussed several billion times since the sb, but, eh... its the slow time leading up to the draft...
So ahhh... who's going to play LG when ****yboy gets hurt? Wallace or some other waste of sperm?

does a lot to solidify the line while we try to fill in the rest of the spots with younger/better players

OL/pass blocking have been an issue plaguing us for nearly a decade now. Things seemed like they were starting to get better until we started facing teams in the playoffs.

If he stays healthy it's easy to assume Vera-Tucker will be an upgrade for us at LG and it will be really beneficial to not have two rookies next to each other on our young QB's blindside.

On paper the OL seems slightly improved especially factoring in the blocking TE from Miami. But I'm not going to get my hopes up until they prove it on the field when it counts.

Hope they don't put him on skates Jared Wilson kind of weak.

They have 11 draft picks and a lot of money for free agency.
11 Draft picks don't equal 11 hits Wozzy: it's a crapshoot.

C: Wilson, Brown
LG: Vera-Tucker, Brown, Wallace?
RG: Onwenu
LT: Campbell, Hudson?
RT: Moses, Bryant

Maybe some of the depth players shift around, but there's good and bad here. The starters look pretty solid, but they can't weather much damage injury-wise, and they have AVT who is exceptionally injury-prone. They also have Onwenu on an expiring contract and no clear player to take over for him if they do not extend him or re-sign him in 2027. Finally, Moses is 35 years old and won't play forever, although guys like Trent Williams at 38 are still doing it, so I guess it's possible he still has a couple years of starting ability left.

Definitely need to add a couple pieces to this group.
You’re missing two prospects here. Sebastian Gutierrez and Lorenz Metz shouldn’t be completely dismissed from the conversation.

Sebastian Gutierrez is a tiny school prospect but he’s really athletic. A project to be sure but the kid can motor, had decent strength and should be stronger. He might be a dark horse candidate to backup at guard.

Lorenz Metz didn’t start playing football until he turned 18, he is pretty athletic, strong and massive at 6’9” 330 pounds plus he has a 84” wingspan. Added to Marcus Bryant he provides another potential depth player at tackle.

Both of these guys arrived in the NFL as UDFA’s but this front office did a great job at identifying small school talent and bringing them in. They’re longshots but talented, they can’t just be written off.

If the league started today and everyone was healthy, the Pats would have the best roster in the AFCEast.

They don’t need to hit on all 11 draft picks, but they can hit on quite a few of them and find a couple more in the undrafted ranks.

They certainly hit on most of their picks last offseason, and that’s shows us some level of competence.

when healthy Vera Tucker has been excellent. if he can remain healthy, I expect he will be the teams best OL man
when healthy, Campbell had a very good rookie season. I think it is reasonable to assume he will be healthy, and will improve in year 2.
I think it is also reasonable to think Wilson's best position is OC, and he will come back in year 2, stronger and more comfortable in the offense.
I have no concerns with the right side, as long as they remain healthy.
depth is needed, and there are some interesting players already on the roster, with the draft coming.
I think we are looking at a top 8-12 OL

Of course, we whouldn't ignore anyone on the 90-man roster.

IMO, both of these guys have less than 50% chance of making the Practice Squad.

Neither of them changes the team needs for OL's. Perhaps they might lessen the need to sign OL UDFA's.

You never know until you give them a chance.

Hell the Pats made a college wrestler into a good NFL player in Stephen Neal.

Why…because you don’t know who they are?

You didn’t know who Julian Edelman was before he arrived here… unless of course you’re a Kent State alumni.

Now if they get a stud OT/OG it will solidify the protection of Drake for now and the future
I am in the camp that Campbell will be just fine at LT and Wilson at C. My only concern is Moses injury probability at his age. I want a OL in the 1st round. If we give Drake a deep good OL he will tear the league apart
Yeah me too. I don't watch college ball but the pats should really pump resources into the oline. Surprised Mumford isn't signed.

Linebacker and oline are the biggest needs to me as there's no one besides Spillane (not a fan) here next year. Same with Moses.

Wolfe really needed to be on the ball this FA to keep the momentum going. Too many holes entering the draft on the roster. Front office pigeon holed themselves by not doing a better job.

@The Gr8est with the perfect answer to @mgteich

I think things did get better. They were showed enough improvement to be good against average teams, and showed there’s still improvement needed against playoff caliber teams. Not to beat a dead horse but part of the playoff problems was playing a hurt rookie LT when his replacement might have been an upgrade, so the improvement may have been undercut by that coaching decision.

And we wouldn’t have two rookies playing next to each other even without AVT. They’ve played a full season. They’re no longer rookies. Let’s hope they make a good second year leap in performance after a full off season in the program. I’d love to see the OL improved, especially the depth. But I do think it’s better than it looked in the playoffs already, just from signing AVT and getting Campbell healthy again. Hopefully Wilson at center is at least a wash compared to Bradbury, and I think Wilson has upside remaining. That also goes for the backups, and I’m sure we will get some rookies to compete in camp as well. It’s not the disaster it used to be.

Not sure I agree that AVT at LG is a "stop gap". He signed a 3 year deal and is heading into his age 27 season. He either stays healthy and he's a bona fide starter locked up through his prime. Or he gets hurt and he isn't a stop gap for anything. It's kind of all or nothing there.

Would have to imagine IOL is high on the priority list in the draft.

Need someone to potentially plug in if AVT cant stay healthy, or to take over for Owenu for next season.
