I'm surprised no one had posted a similar thread before this .

It featured 3 teams. 2 teams that featured mostly NFL superstars, past and present, and a raging ******* named Logan Paul. A 3rd team was made up of "Team USA" the current champs, all of whom were UNDER 6', had full time jobs, but had been playing the game for years (the game's MVP was 37 years old). AND they made the NFL all-stars look like mopes. In the 3 games they played they scored EVERYtime they had the ball except for once, when they were kneeling down at the end of a game they were winning by 30.

The most interesting thing for me was seeing Brady throw the ball. God, he can still sling it. I mean uber accuracy and velocity, even though he got fewer snaps than Jaylen Hurts, who showed why he is probably the reason AJB wants to leave Philly. He had zero escapability and was inconsistently with his accuracy. He threw a great 40 yd dart for a TD, followed by a 10 yd out that wasn't close. I don't know why Brady didn't play more. Gronk was great until he pulled a hammy. Diggs was great, and Brady was targeting him.

The announcers constantly explained why these no names were scoring at will, but to me it was the difference in how well they played defense that was the difference in the game. The NFL had LB's and DE (and Logan ****ing Paul the fraud) rushing the passer. Great names like Luke Kuechly but they were being GASHED by the quicker smaller team USA. Plus, they were constantly being penalized for either not knowing the rules or initiating contact in a game that tries to eliminate most of it. With both offensive gurus Sean Payton and Kyle Shanahan watching their star-studded teams getting stifled by defense that had no players over 6' and I doubt any were over 200lbs. I mean they looked positively tiny compared to their NFL counterparts... yet they prevailed,

Anyway, it was kind of satisfying to watch they privileged athletes get humiliated by pretty much everyday Joes who had to get time off from work to play in these games. I REALLY hope they made a few bucks for this, I'm sure the NFL guys did. (God, Brady looked like could still help a team)

I'm drawing a blank for any other sporting event were average Joe's, made future hall of famers and current day all-stars look like scrubs. Was so bad they had to as you said, remind us every 5 minutes that the NFL guys just don't understand the game well enough.... I'm kind of shocked they agreed to this because man it was not a good look for them...

The full games are on YouTube. I was interested to watch but kind of disappointed with it.

Brady’s arm as you mentioned looked great. That first TD to Diggs was a pass not many in the league today could make. Same as the convert to Gronk. He would still be a top QB if he was playing.

The game is set up for small, fast, twitchy guys and takes a lot of the elements of real football out. The biggest thing the NFL guys would need to practice is actually getting the flag. The flag football team would all get the flag instantly which wasn’t the case with the NFL teams. If the NFL does send guys to the Olympics it’s got to be WRs and CBs with Lamar and Jayden Daniels as the QBs. Cant send LBs, TEs, Saftey’s

I spent 12 years coaching full contact football, won national title, coached GB team DB's and was coach of the year.
Then some time after I retired. I was asked to help coach a under 14's flag team. It took me quite some time to make the change I kept at the start being told, we can't do that coach this is flag not contact.
So what I'm saying is just because you were a top NFL player, don't assume you shall be one at Flag because you will be playing against players who understand the system much better than you do.

I hope they dont charity out spots on team USA to NFL players because unlike NBA athlete who easily can step into the olympics, the big slower NFL players arent ideal for this sport. And before anyone says there are players in the nfl who have that fast twitch speed gene please watch these guys. They are tiny but are beyond fast and move like in a matrix movie. Its not even close how much better suited they are for this type of game.

You see Brady to diggs????

I'm sorry but I don’t know how anyone could be interested in this.

How do you feel about flag football after having coached the kids for a while?

I hope the nfl players get iced out of the Olympic flag football team...

****ers don't wanna practice hard so they dont get hurt... then they shouldn't be playing another sport in the Olympics...

all i can think of is

I'm interested to see how our USA flag team does against other countries, they looked unstoppable with their speed and creative play calling.

I enjoyed it very much, just was surprised how long it took me to make the change. They were good kids and a number of them have gone up to kitted. Flag is good fun and is usually high scoring. I just hope the so called "stars" don't spoil it for every one.

I think flag football is the future, especially for a lot of youth leagues, so I was curious about the point of view of someone who has been in that world for a while.

Not sure it is the future, but the Olympics will certainly put the sport on the map. For senior flag (which I never coached) gets both men and women, apart, or together playing the sport. All shapes and sizes too. It is perfect for those that want a team sport that they can take part in without the physicality of Football (American) or Rugby.

As an edit, I should mention that there are some very good athletes playing Flag in the UK.

Although this was pretty much a glorified exhibition match it just underscores how Tom Brady was able to consistently elevate average joes into game winners. TB12 is the goat because of his transcendent ability to take over a game and play chess while the other team is playing checkers. I really don't understand the hatred from some fans towards him but we were downright Privileged to have Brady as our starting QB for two decades.

I will say this he rushed hard every snap I saw, and it was impacting the Flounders. Its more than I can say for Von Miller playing D on Brady's team.

I see, pretty cool. I didn’t watch the game for the most part just the trash talking that him, Brady, Gronk, etc were doing to promote it

I bet Brady could still be a top 5 QB if he came back for a season. It would be something if he could join team USA at 50 years old and add an Olympic Gold medal to his trophy case! Heck some of the old time baseball pitchers were still playing into their fifties.
