Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
Josh Allen is not the best QB in the league. Maybe most talented, certainly most physically gifted, but not the best. He's too inconsistent, too careless, too mentally fragile.

If you were starting a two minute drive at your own 10, down by 6, and could choose any QB in the league to get behind center, Josh Allen would be a bad choice

If you're a defensive coordinator with the ball on the 1 yard line... who would you fear most?

There's no one I'd rather have wildcard weekend than Josh Allen.

After that...Best QB in the league...I'm scared of what you and the people who agree with you have as bars for that particular entry.

He's literally never led the league in a single metric. Except fanboys.
Tommy.. your my guy and you know your ****... Josh Allen I myself for years I nit picked at his game and improperly discredited him... based on how ****ty our offense was in the postseason and how could we had kept up with Josh Allen had we seen him in the AFCCG? Is he perfect of course not..but he's the only QB I'd fear in an AFCCG.

It's why I'm not anti the player.

It's also why I'd take Amon-Ra St. Brown over just about anyone else.

lol.

Why? He’s gone to the playoffs the last seven years. Five of those years he’s been out before the AFCCG, and he lost both of the times he got there. 8-7 in the playoffs. I think the highlighted grade is accurate.

How does that record make you fearful?

Is a bit odd that Boutte didn't join Maye and the boys in their throwing session. Could just be that the others were noted as already being down there, but the fact that Pop was involved (and he's most likely not to return) shows that Boutte might be assuming he could be part of the trade for AJ if that happens. And - that's exactly what I've suggested. AJ and Boutte are synonymous in style and role. Not that Boutte is as good, but he's the same type, and it'd be redundant.

AJ, Doubs, Williams, Pop/Chism, Hollins (+ Draftee) could be really good. I think they'd pick one of either Pop or Chism - whomever can really grasp the slot role of the JMD offense - which so far has not been Pop.

Ok.. lol fair points.. but can I ask you sir?
Based on how our offense was ****ty in the postseason would you had felt comfortable facing Allen again? You'd be comfortable with him having to face us last season in a game to get to the superbowl? I'm strictly talking about last postseason You'd think we could have stopped both cook and Allen? Denver couldn't Allen stopped Allen...

Ross,

Can I ask you a question? What QB would you NOT want to face if it's the AFCCG home or away?

Just a question I'm asking from a great Mod like yourself.

You should never be comfortable facing a playoff team, especially in the playoffs. If you’re comfortable you’re likely going to be playing a trap game.

But why would our crappy offense make me worry more about Allen than Nix? It’s our defense that has to stop either of them. Defense really didn’t fail even in the Super Bowl, so why would I expect them to fall apart against Allen?

Josh has very good playoff stats.
15 games played
38 total Tds
7 total turnovers
4700 total yds.
His detractors will point to the W-L record and that’s fair, but he’s definitely been more of the solution than the problem.
To each their own.

I don't think there's any QB that I would "NOT" want to face, if you mean that I'd want to avoid at all costs. But some are scarier, sure.

Only QBs in the AFC that are serious threats on their own merits are Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. But, it might take Mahomes a while to get back to form post-injury, so it might just be Allen right now. Joe Burrow has real talent, but I can't count on the guy being healthy for the postseason, and Trevor Lawrence/Justin Herbert/Lamar Jackson all pretty much crap the bed in the playoffs so I don't worry about them.

Though it's worth noting my role as a mod doesn't make my opinion any more valid, there are a lot of posters here who can run circles on my football opinions lol

Well one thing for sure is the forums full of wonderful opinions.. I thank you for sharing this.. as it provides me a fan some real insight..

For me as you've seen my post with others.. I'm gonna say Josh Allen.. 6'5 260 pounds and 3 down may as well be First down with him... I actually feel Mahomes hasn't been the same player the last 2 seasons prior to the ACL.. Burrow great player but always hurt... I gave Allen his respect this past season becuase he had literally no one at WR that was a viable option.. he makes those TEs deadly.. I'd feel good about facing any QB in an AFCCG other than Josh Allen just my opinion that's all.

And can't win the big game. Some players are clutch, some wilt in the big game. Marino was a great qb. How many superbowls did he win?

Many fans don't consider what AJ Brown does for the run game as well. High level blocker.
Not keen on giving up a first rounder because a WR can block.

I know he’s not popular around here but Hines Ward in his prime would have been well worth a first rounder.
Yeah, but in his prime, he did more than block. 1000 career receptions.

Excellent points.. I truly don't understand why some choose to not recognize this.. we have an elite young QB that is rising as well and in a few seasons maybe Drake gets regarding as such as well it's highly likely.. Specifically pointing to last season the way we were playing offensively I didn't feel confident we'd be able to keep up or contain both cook and Allen in a game especially Allen has tasted before..

Josh Allen is the best QB In the league.. I have to admit that.. I agree he can commit silly TOs but I didn't want to see him in the AFCCG seen as how we barely beat stink-ham... is all i was trying to say..

We can all agree that Buffalo doesn't have WR's for Allen to throw to, an unreliable defense and the only reason they are competitive is because of Josh Allen. At the same time, I see posters blaming Josh Allen for his postseason failures.

When Diggs was there, they didn't have a running game and defense was terrible. Now they have a running game, but are putrid at WR and still have terrible defense allowing 33 to Denver. This is why Allen continues to struggle - there is no balance.

But posters are in denial if they think Allen wouldn't be the worst possible matchup for the Pats when he is 9-3 against them including a playoff beatdown since 2020. That 2nd meeting against the Bills up 21-0, only to lose was extremely disappointing. The Bills didn't have a good defense, but Drake had a really had time throwing against them. It would've been even worse had they met again with the Pats awful OL. Bills would've ran Cook/Allen relentlessly until the Pats cracked like they did in the Super Bowl.

Rain. Wow what a dam good post!! I don't see how anyone can disagree with that.. it's a very fact based post..

Just like we benefited for so many years with Brady.. 2010-2013 when we didn't have good defensive teams.. we went as far as Brady took us..

Last season I know for sure that we wouldn't had been able to contain Allen and cook enough that Buffalo running game as Allen is part of it as well is just like a snow ball effect once the get rolling as cook was running all over Denvers front..

Yes that 2nd half collapse against Buffalo it was just amazing that we couldn't move the ball.. it wasn't like McDermott inserted a totally new game plan or something at the half.
