NFL News Dolphins Trading Jaylen Waddle to Broncos

Share the latest NFL news from around the league here.
Trying and landing a 1 are completely different things. Try all you want but failing to do so something year in year out is inexcusable failure to help Maye.

You Madden and Fantasy Football clowns do not live in reality. You cannot force WR to come here and play like you do in video games. AJ Brown wants to come here, but morons would have us give up two first round picks or more when we have many holes and depth that need fixing going into year 2. If you had your way, we would be the Bengals with a QB two great WR, and 50 other guys who stink because they cannot afford anyone else. Seriously, those three guys take up 45% of their cap. Vrabel isn't building that way. He is getting the structure and gaps filled. When the time is right, he will get his WR. I like how you lie and claim Vrable has been trying this year in and year out. No, the previous regime couldn't get it right, but just so you know, Vrabel has only been coach for a year.

Yeah, guess i hate being with them in the offseason, but do love in season, you're right

The Malik signing looks insane for sure, too. Like others said, why sign the best QB free agent if you aren't trying to win? Crazy stuff

biggest problem for them is definitely up top. No idea how to select a coeherent GM / HC, and all their players suffer from it. Sam Darnold winning a SB (and playing it well) must ve been a gut shot for Woody
Dolphins are taking a flyer on Willis to see if he pans out. Honestly, I don’t see him being anything more than a JAG.

At least we won’t have to worry about the Dolphins for the next 2-3yrs although I wasn’t worried about them to begin with.

Their front office doesn’t have a clue and Ross is almost as bad as Woody.

The Bills must be laughing right now. I thought they gave up too much for DJ Moore. But if Waddle could command this much, then the Bills got Moore at a bargain. I would argue Moore has been the more productive WR of the two. If I was ranking the three WRs either traded or likely to be traded, I would put Brown first, Moore second, and Waddle third.

Waddle is slightly younger, but other than one year three years ago he has been mostly hype over production.

I didn't realize they were only a year and a half apart.

Ugh... terrible news. Denver gonna be a big problem next season.
At least they didn’t trade him to Buffalo. Buffalo apparently offered more.

Fins and the Jets are now officially in rebuild mode. Joe Brady sucking at his job would be massive for us

That's odd for Broncos to be so desperate for Waddle - to give up a 1st?
I mean they have Sutton, Franklin, Mims & Bryant - what's up with those guys?

I do not, I repeat - DO NOT - give up a 1st rounder for any WR that's not named Jefferson, Chase or Nacua.

It seems Philly is stuck with AJ, and we have the leverage if we want to swing something later.

You wouldn’t give up #31 for JSN

Denver WR core pretty d@mn solid.
Sutton, Waddle, Franklin and Bryant (started producing more at end of year) is pretty good.

Denver was/is primed to take a step back this year so a smart move to try to improve the team and avoid that.

Basically, a late 1st and a 3rd for a WR in his prime with 1-year of a cheap cap hit. Win!

Miami wasn't trading in the division but a deal I'd have done for the Pats.
Miami full tank mode for 2027 QB.

Risks:
-He tends to get banged up, not a big guy, I'd wager he will miss at least 1 or 2 games in 2026.
-Performance dropped since 2023 though easily could be a product of the QB.
-Broncos now in the red in 2027 Cap

AJ Brown totally different, I would not have done that trade for Brown but would for Waddle. This Take out the only other legitimate suitor for Brown and a team that clearly chose Waddle over Brown.

Makes a 2nd and 4th for Brown the expected price. Otherwise move on and let Eagle implode themselves.

I wouldn't do it for either guy. I am not as enthralled with Waddle as others. His one truly great year was 2023. And I think that was in large part because Hill was so unstoppable that he drew a lot of coverage away from Waddle along with McDaniel's system being so new and unique that people hadn't figured out how to defend it. His production dropped after that.

Waddle is a solid to top #2 WR. I don't know if he is a #1 WR. He didn't step up when Hill went down. He had a couple of good games, but nothing special.

It will be interesting in Payton's offense. Waddle does have YAC skills which is necessary for a Payton offense, but he isn't a great route runner where Payton likes to design precise routes.

He's getting the Brady treatment: elevate crap around you.
Brady rarely had WR groupings this weak. Maybe like 06, 13 and 19. But honestly, we at least always gave him one stud if not more and always self corrected in those off years.

The Jets and Dolphins are going to have a great battle on who wants last place more.

Who is stopping the Broncos next year? Clearly the front runner imo.

IDK, I am not as impressed with the Broncos. The Patriots get all the flack about the schedule, but the had a really easy schedule (not nearly as easy as the Patriots though) and got lucky like facing KC with their third string QB. And the Bills and the refs gave them the win in the Division round. Josh Allen gave away points with stupid turnovers.

The Broncos should be a top team in 2026. But I wouldn't be surprised if they missed the playoffs all together depending on how the Chargers and Chiefs play. They lost players on defense and Waddle is their only real addition and they won't be adding much in the draft now.

Why would the Dolphins even sign Willis?

You bring him in the hope he's a potential solution only to trade away the weapons that give him that chance, they'd of been as well committing to the suck and not bothering with that.

They're like half in to the tank and half out, doesn't make any sense.

Do you want to win some games or collect draft picks and lose?
He's part of the tank. A relatively cheap bridge starter that if they get lucky on like Seattle with Darnold or Indy with Jones then the rebuild accelerates but Willis was brought in to be a sacrificial lamb that puts them in place to draft a guy. Miami now has two first round picks (11 and 30), a second (43), and four thirds (75, 87, 90, 94) so they have plenty of ammo even if they end up trading back this year to stockpile for next year.

Philly is just looking to June 1st to reduce their CAP hit and then they’ll offload Brown for whatever they can get.

We’ll see if any other team wants to dance with Brown but so far it looks like the Pats are his only partner so he should be ours if we really want him.

The Eagles are on the losing end of the leverage battle regardless if it involves the Pats or any other team.

How inexcusable? Should we simply fall on our knees and beg the Eagles to trade Brown to us at any cost? What if it's two 1st round picks? Is it still inexcusable to say no?

Picks are potential. The likelyhood that you get a WR that is anything close to Waddle at 31 or even after 20 is low. We gave up a first for Cooks who is not in that Jefferson/Chase/Nacua tier. And it was a good trade and better than when two years later we actually used a similar pick on a WR.

Draft picks aren't gold that needs to be coveted. There's a reason why you see contenders trading them all the time.

The bettors have DEN at about 4th or 5th in AFC. BUF, BAL, KC are ahead; we are about equal.

DEN thought that they needed lots more. I think that this trade helps them as will our after-the-draft trade for Brown.

I think that MIA is waaay ahead in that race. The jets have done a lot to help the team with regard to players.

There's always a line, but this idea that a first is unthinkable is just not realistic when you look at the market. We tend to pretend we can get players way below market value and act shocked every year when we see what they really go for and then overvalue what we can offload are own guys for.

You want a WR1 in his 20's who is legitimately considered amongst the best in the league, that's not coming cheap. Most teams would rather deal with him being pissy and sitting for a few weeks while they work something out if they aren't getting adequate return. Happens all the time
