Patriots Rumor Tracker / FA Signings (Updated: Signings in OP - 4/7)

I don’t think you can teach instincts.
But if you think you can it should be to a reserve.

I’m a big fan of playing better players who don’t need to improve to be effective.
You can't teach instincts per se but you can teach play recognition and that can lead to an improvement in instincts

Or you can play a guy with instincts. Ellis’s has been in the league 5 years, if he hadn’t learned yet, why would you rely on him to do so know?
Caeden Wallace just needs to learn how to block. Let’s make him a starter?

Not really though. It’s what separates athletes. The ability to instinctually know what to do without having to stop and think.
You can’t build a football around having guys with critical flaws and hoping they will be the one guy who figures it out 5 years in (which is really more like 12 years in as a football player)

Not going to lie, I find this kinda confusing. Not a big deal but makes me scratch my head
Why? Do you think long snappers and immortal and can’t be injured?
Are we worse with this guy or nobody and an empty roster spot?
Use the spot to bring in a guy you can run through workouts, get a confidence level on and have him available if you get an injury.

Every position needs competition to improve

So, what reasons do you speculate (as we have) that it has not yet happened?
I'm sure it has something to do with timing, cap space and/or other things.
Im certainly not worried about it.
Vrabel will get it done when the time is right

You will do this a lot as we fill the 90-man roster and make many, many cuts and additions to the bottom 20.

I know and am ready for it, but I cannot recall an extra LS ever being brought in unless as a UDFA and that is what struck me as odd

Most of the guys that departed during the free agency had career best year last season because the coaching managed to identify and use their strengths. It is unrealistic to expect them to perform at the same level next season . The oppenents will shave more tape and target their weaken.

I don't recall it either. Seems odd. Maybe he is trying to switch positions? Who knows.
