Who knows. I got:

Based on reports from the 2025-2026 NFL season, New England Patriots linebacker Harold Landry has been dealing with a serious, lingering knee injury that has led to speculation about his long-term health, including reports of "bone-on-bone" conditions.

Key Details on Landry's Knee Issues:
  • Lingering Injury: Landry has been managing a knee injury that first flared up in Week 6 of the 2025 season against the New Orleans Saints, which later caused him to miss significant time and be in-and-out of the lineup.
  • "Bone-on-Bone" Report: Reports in early 2026 suggested that Landry's knee issue may be a chronic, "bone-on-bone" condition, which often suggests long-term damage rather than an acute injury.
  • Playoff Availability: Despite the injury, Landry attempted to play through the pain, appearing in the 2026 Divisional Round against the Texans but was forced to miss the AFC Championship game against the Broncos.
  • Offseason Surgery: Landry hinted at the need for off-season surgery to address the lingering issue before his 9th season. Reddit +5

Considering there doesn't seem to be any indentifiable injury (ie ACL, MCL), it's unclear exactly what surgery is going to do.

Bottom line, an awful lot of smoke.
You don’t have any sources.

No one can find the “reports from early 2026” other than some guy on Reddit attributing it to Zolak with there being no record of him saying.

Bone in bone just isn’t possible. You can’t play football with no cartilage, and you need a knee replacement.
Thats why any claim to it has no legit reference other than “rumor made up by fan”

Having experienced bone-on-bone in both my ****ing knees that required two knee replacements, I do actually know a bit about it and how it PROGRESSES.

I never said I had anything other than what I saw on the internet. I never said it was definitive. But for some reason, this is a really important hill for you to die on, so have at it. You win.

We'll see how much and how effectively Landrey plays this year I guess.

You are really being a freaking baby today.

You jump in and imply “bone on bone” stories are correct because “you’ve seen it many places”

I show an exhaustive search that says there are no legitimate reports and it appears to be a fan created rumor.
You respond with the fan created rumor.

Landry himself says he is getting surgery to fix his knee, but you choose to apparently think he is lying and the Reddit guy who made up a fake source knows better.

Now you cry that you had knee replacement so you should know.

How does having knee replacements give you any more ability to judge what if wrong with Landry knee?

When you were diagnosed with bone on bone would you have been able to dress for a Super Bowl?

We have zero clue as to the severity of Landry's knee injury...so you're going with "Landry should be fine..." Good stuff
Doctors replace knee tendons like car tires… don’t be an alarmist.

I just won't put to much faith in that. He needs surgery then he needs recovery and rehab.. I see him on PUP until he's ready to be able to play and be effective.. I can also see a situation where he decides to retire as well.. so it's up in the air with Landry until we know for sure.
He already said he was rehabbing and going to be back. He’s not that old. If Diggs can come back and play so can Landry.
Your right he and Vrabel have a very close relationship.. so I'm sure Vrabel wants Landry to be at his best to be a factor on the field.. I full expect us to take a edge player at # 31 and then dip back in the later rounds as well as UDFA..
We’ll see what the team thinks of Ponder.

I'll be disappointed if Jones is not an upgrade over Chaisson. I liked him, he was better than I expected and he never quit on a play which was the quality I appreciated most. I expect a stronger bull rush from Jones in addition to the speed factor.
He’s definitely stronger as a bull rusher and against the run. He just doesn’t have Chaisson’s upfield speed.

Agreed wozzy..But a player can say anything they want to.. I'd like Landry to be healthy and a contributing player he was great leading up to getting hurt.. injuries unfortunately are part of the game..he's a great person and a great leader.

Should he come back as I mentioned he will be managed he will be a great rotational guy and veteran for the younger players and that's probably a great role for him.

Sony Michel did and he's a running back...

Reiss mentioned it's bone-on- bone... also be mindful that this is Landry 3rd knee injury I believe of his career. If he does end up playing I see him being heavily managed.. so he won't be a high snaps guys.. as I mentioned previously we need a starter at edge opposite Dre Jones..
At this point i don't count Landry being on the roster this September.

I'm leaning towards this as well.. I follow alot of patiots content on YouTube.. CLNS media Mike Kadlick and Taylor Keyles.. they always have on patriots reporter's and sometimes Berdard and Giardi they talk about how Landry is having surgery.. and I know he said it himself also.. now we are talking about another rehab from a knee injury, age 30 soon, who's to say he says F it.. and retires. As I've been saying we need another starter at edge opposite Dre Jones..

So i would try and sign sweat and team him with m williams like they were in philly

Great idea! I like that. I wonder what Arizona would want ? A 2nd and a 5th?
If he really wants out and is willing to cause a problem i imagine zona would sell him at a discount.

If he gets surgery and comes back at 100% why would he be a “rotational guy”?

No he didn’t. That was an urban legend.
I agree. Nobody is playing football with no cartilage in their knee. Not possible.
If it's reached the point where it's bone on bone then a knee replacement is the only treatment. I don't care how much you shoot up that knee before a game, it ain't happening

Do you know the full extent of his injury? Date of surgery? Doctor? Surgeon?

That said, a footbal player could play again after a knee replacement and rehab.
They do great knee and hip replacements these days. Shoulders, not so much
