He needed surgery.I think Hendrickson quit on the team after not getting an extension. He could have played, I believe. He chose to stay healthy and get paid. It worked out for him.

I still don't know if I would want Hendrickson. His age. He had hip surgery. And even before his injury last year, he was having a down year.
NFLN reported that BAL was talking to DAL after the trade was agree upon. They shared the medical info with the DAL doctor, one of the NFL's best regarding this type of injury and surgery. The DAL doctor gave his advice and BAL decided that Crosby wasn't worth 2 first rounders.
BAL was only allowed to share the medical info with DAL after the trade was agreed to.
==========
Until the physical and sharing of info, everyone was operating on info from LV and Crosby's agent that Crosby was ahead of schedule or at least on schedule.
==========
Did BAL do what they had to do after being misled by LV, Crosby, and Crosby's agent?
I suspect that there was more to this than BAL simply changing their mind.
From what I remember he could have played in the last two/three games or so.He needed surgery.
You may be correct in the sense he could have played. When players elect to have surgery I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt.From what I remember he could have played in the last two/three games or so.
Edit: Ok, never mind. I checked the information. I must've missed it.
While the Pats have had to meet the market, which is inflated (i.e. Doubs) for the most part it seems like they are focused on quality depth, as both Vrabel and McDaniels know that the team they start with won't be the one they end withOr Crosby lied to himself, his team and his agent and he really can't pass the medical tests.
I see people saying they smell ******** from the Ratbirds, but I smell it coming from Crosby just as bad.
The Crosby thing didn't work out, so like a teenager who just got dumped, the Ratbirds over-react and grab the next one in line.
Not over-committing to an injured player is smart, especially one with miles on his tires.
IMO they will regret going with Hendrickson.
28 million per year. Honestly don't feel like the Ravens overpaid that much.From my couch
Really pisses you off to consider how the league imposed a draconian penalty on the Pats for Deflategate, which was a made up offense in which the Colts acted improperly by testing the balls, instead of the officials, among other non-standard practices, while the Ratbirds screw over another team with malice of foresight, for TWO first round picks, and the league is going to take no disciplinary action at all, as far as we know.It WAS a ******** move by the ratbirds. I think they've been talking to Hendrickson all thru this process and settled on Crosby impulsively for the 2 first rounders to beat out Dallas. Baltimore is a franchise who has ALWAYS valued their first-round picks, and on second thought when they found they could make a deal with Hendrickson and keep their picks, they found or created an excuse that got them out of the deal.
Unfortunately, I don't think the league will do anything to them, but even if they hit with Hendrickson that defense might be still ass and if it's a miss, then this will another year gone from Jackson's prime and nothing to show for it.
Colvin had a fractured socket and dislocated hip similar to what ended Bo Jackson's career. Henrickson was a muscle injury that historically has good success coming back from.I still think back on Roosevelt Colvin whenever I read about a football player having major hip surgery. Colvin came back but was never the same as he was before the surgery and he was only 30 when he got injured. Hendrickson's going to be 32 in December. Signing Hendrickson for 4 years seems like it's mainly to spread the bonus money out to lessen the cap hit when they cut him after 2 years.
After reading this: Why the Bills are backing away from talented edge from Cincinnati Bengals I'm even happier that the Pats stayed away. Hip surgery is one thing, but add to that he has back problems and I'd bet he's got a short shelf life.
Well, if this really was a case of malice of foresight, they are really good at malice. Crosby crapped on the team via media leaks so going back will be ugly. The word is out that Crosby is damaged goods so even if he actually is right on track for recovery LV will not get two first-rounders for him. IND lost out on Hendricks. So much malevolence!Really pisses you off to consider how the league imposed a draconian penalty on the Pats for Deflategate, which was a made up offense in which the Colts acted improperly by testing the balls, instead of the officials, among other non-standard practices, while the Ratbirds screw over another team with malice of foresight, for TWO first round picks, and the league is going to take no disciplinary action at all, as far as we know.
I saw a pretty good comp for the Crosby/Hendrickson fiasco.
"You're allowed to leave your bride for the bridesmaid on your wedding day, but you're a complete sh*t if you do".
Well the drama side of it is pretty funny because we're not the team that got screwed.The flip side: "Marry in haste, repent in leisure"....
Don't ask how I know...
You mean like finding Hendrickson was still unsigned and cheaper than they had expected?Or, the Ravens found something more when their medical staff reviewed Crosby's medical data or had him in for their own stuff.
As I pointed out in another thread, that left leg has had multiple knee surgeries now and an ankle surgery from the high ankle sprain. They could have easily seen something degenerative.
The fact that Crosby and his agent have been silent says that there is something there.
Crosby soured on the Raiders for shutting him down, and perhaps for being a dogshit team.Thats kinda what I am wondering.
While Crosby soured on the Raiders, they sat him because of his knee issue. Were they acting in his best interest? Maybe. Were they acting in their best interest? (knowing they would try to trade him). Very possible.
People are bashing the Ravens and they seemingly deserve it....but the Raiders and Crosby may also deserve some blame for being less-then-transparent regarding the actual condition of the knee.
I smell the excrement of a male cow. The spin is starting.
