He’s the only number 1 available. I’ve accepted the fact that the Patriots won’t have a #1 and maybe not a #2 next year. Hopefully they can figure something out, spread the ball around and Henderson can become elite out of the backfield. This is going to be a true test of Drake Mayes development.
There aren't any more option bonuses on Brown's contract after 2026 that I can find.

As of right now they are very clearly bottom 5-10. Last year they were similar. But it’s a team game and credit to Maye and the playcalling for having a great passing game despite that and to the receivers for, even if not very good, being competent enough to benefit from that. They weren’t very good but they also weren’t a band of misfits running the wrong routes and dropping passes either.
That’s why this deal gets done.
Everything you said is 100% true, but that was 20 years ago. It's a very different league today.
