Player Signing Patriots signing guard Alijah Vera-Tucker

Very strange signing. The biggest winner in this is Owenu. He isn't going anywhere.

Susceptibility to tendon injuries is associated with steroids, so one has to wonder
I mean, it shouldn't even be a wonder at this point.
If you talk to any player, off the record, they'll tell you 90% of the players and an even higher percentage of the line guys are on something.

Joey Bosa having a **** year because he wanted to have a healthy season, and got off the juice, is a pretty commonly-known thing.

Missed 13 of 20 postseason games in 2023-24
Missed 40 games the following year.

Glass I. Dowling understands
He's also 7'20", which has a lot to do with it in his case.

Well, in other years that would be a 3 year 20/25 Million contract given his injury history. Players are commanding so much money and have so much power in the negotiation these days (I'm not saying its a bad thing) that no one is giving any ****ing discount no matter what.

Staying healthy that's a solid signing. Wilson at center is back at his original position and with 1 year of experience with the real bullets flying, I'm concerned about the concussions but he staying healthy he should at least be an improvement over Bradbury with high ceiling.

I expect the Patriots to go pass rush and WR with the 1st and 2nd round pick of the draft, in this order, but could be WR first, and then let the draft play out and go very conservative, get a RB here, a CB there, more Oline, better to not find stellar players but players that provide depth than swing for the HR and miss. They still need a volume of players, can't afford to have another draft like 2024.

I could see they trading down the 1st round and getting another 2nd and 4th. I'm not against that but I'll leave to the draft experts.

Jets did not want to let go of AVT , but he did not want to stay because he felt he was getting unlucky and getting injured. So wanted to move to a new place to remove the JuJu.

Hopefully he gets lucky here and has 3 fantastic seasons followed by many more.

If his health could elevate the entire left side and make our run game potent, we really should not care about wr1 .

According to Bedard, he thinks Belichick would have taken Vera-Tucker over Mac Jones if he was available in the 2021 draft.

I don't disagree, his college tape was incredible.

Hell, I would bet that it's a bit of an open secret if that even. FFS they have been lining dudes up to get toradol shots (i know its not a steroid) for a while now at the college level even. I can totally see these guys thinking they're fully healed up and pushing themselves, only to make things worse later on. How hard can it really be to cycle on and off the stuff? I would think you'd have to be pretty stupid to fk up a piss test you know is coming months away.....yet it's been done. Josh Gordon says hello!

I hope he is healthy and plays to his ability. But I have to worry a bit about the argument that he's been injured enough that surely this must all be fluky and it will all be behind him. Reminds me of the Colts and Bob Sanders and they wouldn't accept that every year it is going to be something else. Again, I hope I'm wrong!

Agreed - assuming Onwenu is extended then a mid round G is OK. Moses needs replacement via draftee or signee in a year.
I see RG and RT remaining the same as 2025 and Wilson to C.

Still need a Draft pick and get rid of that Garage Caedan Wallace. That Drake Maye-only Draft is what it is embarrassing.

I remember that draft. Wasn't that the draft where you wanted to trade the 3rd pick for Justin Firlds, and loved Jay'lin Polk out of Washington? That draft. Well, I guess there was at nleast one person more embarrassed than Wolf.......

Was that you Huck??

Nope, I was the guy banging the table for Drake Maye, and although I was fine with the Polk pick I wasn't the guy who wanted Fields over Maye, and who " loved the Washington receivers." If you want to find that guy you can look in a puddle, or a mirror, whichever is closest.

I don't know if we already had the full details of the contract or not.

If true, this will make Mike Owenu happy. Pats aren't going to move him given Tucker is an injury risk.

He has 1 year on his contract and played great last year; he was never in danger of being moved.
It's a question what happens to him after this year, they could let him go and move Vera Tucker to RG if he lasts the 2026 season.

Which is it? $30K or $250K? [Whatever it is, he didn't play at all last year, so it's all NLTBE and not counting on the 2026 cap.]

Fun fact: I think there was scuttlebutt that Belichick wanted to draft him in 2021 if he was still on the board with their first round pick. But the Jets traded up. I bet they'd have just run it back with Cam and drafted Davis Mills in that scenario as a project qb.
Davis Mills' hands are too small. No way would Belichick draft him.

We need line help but I don't know much about this guy. I watch ALOT of football outside of our games but I'm not sick enough to willing watch the jets so i guess Im off to see some highlights lol.
