Player Signing Romeo Doubs Signs

In retrospect would have been much better to trade a 2nd for dj moore.
They botched this up.

But what logic?
Doubs had 55 catches and 724 yards
Boutte has 33 catches and 550 yards.
How are these the same, they are not!

Boutte missed 3 games and was hurt in a handful of others with the hamstring.

Meanwhile he almost matched the yards and I noticed you didn't make the TD comp.

It's almost like comparing the TDs from Doubs to a guy you're saying isn't a hunger 2 hurts your case.

Vera Tucker is not someone you can say “shored up” the line. He’s torn both triceps, a peck, and an achilles in 4 seasons. Massive injury risk.

Doubs is a 3/4 they just paid as a #2.

Puzzling approach.

That said, most of last year’s pickups hit so maybe they have the “touch”.
I will ask again
How is a guy who was 35th in WR receiving yards a #3/4?
It’s actually rhetorical, he isn’t!!!!!!!

I don’t mind the signing as long as this guy doesn’t end up as the #1 option.

All you lunatics out here having a tantrum, tell me, what available, better, younger FA should they have signed?

Pickens? Tagged.
Evans? Old, overpay.
Pierce? 47 catches. Way overpay.
Shaheed? Route tree is a straight line. Stayed in Seattle. (I would have been ok with him)
Reek? Shredded leg, bad person. Pass.
Jennings? Available, older. Probably would have been ok too.
The move is fine in a vacuum as long as another piece is coming. Otherwise you are still no better than last year.

People are just afraid that Doubs will be it at WR. If that’s the case it isn’t good enough.

Almost like you completely ignoring how a guy who was 35th in WR receiving yards could be a #3.
By your logic there should be anywhere between 64 and 95 WRs ahead of him.
Guess what, he’s not a number 3, it’s not difficult to figure out.

It's like the naysayers haven't been following the Pats at all the last 25 years. This team has won 6 Superbowls WITHOUT having a #1 WR. In fact, one of the major tenets of the offense over those years was NOT to have a #1 WR. The philosophy was to spread the ball around to all the available receivers, so the defense can't focus one or two targets and take them out of the game like Bill used to do so often to great effect.

If 25 years is too long a time for you to remember, how about we go back one year. You know the season we surprised the entire league by going to the ****ing Superbowl. The year we had a top 3 passing offense and no clear #1. This is what is going to happen as long as Josh is running the offense.

We should be rejoicing at getting a 6'2 WR who is known for having great hands and the knack of creating space at the point of attack. Steve Smith's analysis SHOULD be eye opening for the doubters. Unfortunately, the "cult" is so locked into their own little world that no one other than Randy Moss level WR will ever satisfy their obsessive need to find that #1 WR, whether we need him or not.

Now we still need to add a LB, TE and Edge to the mix before the draft, so the draft can be all about the quality of player rather than an immediate need. So resign Chassion, add Chenal and Njoku and pat yourself on a solid FA period

A 6'2" receiver who is JUST NOW ENTERING HIS PRIME, by the way.

Guys we got a wr 2 and paid wr2 money
Please show a veteran wr 2 who is better than doubs but paid lesser. Just one example.

Pats have a very good wr2.5 in Boutte and complimented it with doubs who is a like-like replacement for diggs . Diggs is not better than doubs at this point and has downward spiral while doubs best years are ahead of him.

Brown trade requires a 2 this year and 1 next year and a player and possibly taking 32 million cap hit. And he was also injured and btw is about to be close to 29.

If we believe in Maye let's hope he can do fine with 2 wr 2 . Williams will pan out. Have some patience.

We got to super bowl last year by scheduling luck and afc being real weak . This year is going to be a challenge and we need to really build the team the right way.

I don't get how guys can pitch a fit when they got a young guy at market rate. There's no Randy Moss, AJ Brown, Jerry fekkin' Rice type available in free agency. Build the roster, get to the draft, make deals, see what happens. It's literally day 2 of the new season.

To be fair, he was 3rd on his own team last year in yards/game. Kraft and Watson were ahead of him in that, but behind in total yards because of injuries.

In 2024 he was 4th in total receiving yards but 2nd in yards/game (though it was a pretty even per game split of their top 4 - 50.4 per game for Reed, 46.2 for Doubs, 41.6 for Kraft, 41.3 for Watson).

In 2023 he was 2nd in yards but 4th in yards/game, though I'd say 3rd because Bo Melton only played a short 5 game sample size.

In 2022 he didn't produce a ton as a rookie so won't really count.

#35 in yards last year looks pretty, but I think it's fair to say this is a guy who should be the 3rd best receiving option on the field for his team. Maybe he can scale up to #2 in a balanced attack, but calling him a #3 doesn't sound crazy to me.

DJ Moore.

Wow.

K.
Here' comes the Romeo Dobbs is better and he Never cracked 800yds. We know who held DJ Moore back Josh Allen won't: that We will see.

My extra two cents:

1. Excellent release off the line of scrimmage, gets open fast because of that
2. Very smooth route runner, gets out of his breaks very well

Seems like a great fit for the McDaniels system due to the above points

I think we learned our lesson on that type of decision with Jakobi Meyers, no?

Keep the good ones, let the others walk... Boutte is one of the good ones...

The Pats issue with Meyers wasn't so much letting Meyers walk. It was they replaced him with crap. Meyers was never irreplaceable. Replacing him with a guy who was completely shot in JuJu Smith Schuster made him seem that way.
