I think if we brought Brown in, one of Boutte or Douglas is gone. Both could be gone if Williams can impress during camp. This is the other thing.
It doesn't preclude them going after AJ Brown. Not in the slightest.
What it DOES do is fill the role they needed to fill, and does it well. They can absolutely afford AJ Brown if it comes down to it. There's still plenty of cap room.
I saw us win 3 playoff games and advance to the SB.Come on, you saw the playoff games right?
The schedule talk was annoying in the media but we can't deny it was partially the the difference between 14 wins and 10/11 wins, we saw the offense against playoff level defenses it was inept and nowhere near good enough at protecting the passer or separating from good coverage.
No no. Young players never improve from year 1 to year 2. They're the same player forever. This was basically swapping Diggs for a younger, more explosive, cheaper version. Doubs isn't as good as Diggs has been throughout his career obviously, but he can certainly be as good as Diggs was last year (if he stays healthy). The age difference is notable not only in terms of years 2-4 on the deal but also within the year, it seemed like Diggs wore down by playoff time and his production fell off a cliff.
If we don't make another move at WR/TE, we will definitely need Kyle Williams to step up more and/or Boutte to show he's more than just a deep ball / contested catch guy.
What do I think he's not a #2 and more like Kendrick Bourne??Why do you keep saying a 3rd option?
He was GBs leading WR last year.
He is a solid #2 and his contract is inline with that.
No one is pretending he’s a number 1.
I'm fine kicking Douglas to the curb, to be honest. When an actual pro-level team was around him this year, he was pretty useless, save for one catch in the playoffs.I think if we brought Brown in, one of Boutte or Douglas is gone. Both could be gone if Williams can impress during camp.
A WR group of Brown/Doubs/Williams/Hollins would be very effective.
Please post contract details that show that the 2026 cap cost will be $20MThey just blew 20 mil in cap room on him. Can’t afford an actual number 1 now. So the option is to rotate him and Boutte as your number 1
Yeah there is and he chose NE over Washington who is desperate to sign players but nobody is biting. Wonder why that is. Stick man maybe?ha, only 25 ... seems like he's been around forever. maybe there is upside?
Trump put Tariffs on the NFL $20Mill a year Wow! I think Romeo Doubs works well with others: but we don't have that other Top receiver.
You were killing them for getting rid of Kendrick Bourne. What do I think he's not a #2 and more like Kendrick Bourne??
This team hasn't had a #1 since Moss, and that was 20 years and 3 super bowls ago.I realize you got to overpay to get a WR in this market but for it to be a third option paid like a number 2 who's going to as if this moment be your number 1 is what I'm annoyed with.
#3s don’t have 725 yards and 6 TDs in 16 games. He was 35th in WR receiving yards last year, so please explain how he’s a #3.
You can’t, because he’s not.
This team hasn't had a #1 since Moss, and that was 20 years ago.
Yes. Almost like they're building a young receiving corps to grow along with Drake Maye for the future.Douglas is the odd man out IMO with this signing. He’s the one that gets moved if there is a trade or he’s not re-signed…one or the other. Doubs, Boutte and Williams are here for the long haul.
