Patriots Rumor Tracker / FA Signings (Updated: Signings in OP - 4/7)

Pittman to the Steelers for a trade swap and then resigning at <20 mil was low key a great move by the Steelers. Wouldn’t mind seeing Pats finding a partner in cap trouble like the Colts to trade with

Sure, I agree that WR would still be a need. But nothing wrong with incrementally improving below if that option isn't out there (doesn't appear to be). I don't want to give up a 1st for AJ Brown and if we don't land him, WR is likely to be a need that gets rolled forward to the draft and possibly next year. That happens. I'd still want to incrementally improve this year.
A lot of our problems @ WR will be solved if KW makes that jump. We know what we have in Boutte and Barefoot - Pop Douglas is useless which magnifies this Need.

I am really hoping for Leo Chenal from KC today. If ever there was a Vrabel type guy. A more explosive Hightower type LB. 6-3, 250 and an elite athlete (40" vert, 1.55 10 yard split). He can give you reps off the edge and even had reps at DT for the Broncos. He's very good at shedding blocks too.

I'm open to Brian Thomas Jr and Romeo Doubs I want both. Thomas Jr would be great here: that would be a very nice WR Room for Maye.
I wouldn't spend on Doubs if they got Thomas. I like the IDEA of Thomas but I'm anticipating JAX would want trade compensation for his rookie year, not his second year and that makes it a huge risk. It feels like it would be too much to give IMO.

Unfortunately I think the Chiefs will re-sign him. Shame he is just what the Pats need as well

Does no-one think BTJ potentially being available in his rookie contract, a first round pick no-less is a big red flag?
Well, he had a good rookie year under the previous coaching staff/scheme and fell off with the new staff/scheme. The red flag is if we don't think he can play our scheme.

But shouldn’t we be looking for a LB that can cover instead?

I have never watched okonkwo the undersized TE, but boy, he looks terrific . He is too fast for a TE and if there is someone who can maximize his mismatches it's josh. Would be great if we can sign him . Slots in more as a receiver though . Routes are all insane .

what about Matt Milano? He's no spring chicken but he can still hit when called upon.

He’s a FB, they already filled the position.

Now I need patriots to sign 5 middle class free agents like what we did last year - hawkins, Bradbury, hollins, Tonga, chaisson. We did one already need 4-5 more to build depth for this year and next. Sign 3 year contracts with out after first year . Go and attack those players.

Chenal is 25 and I love his versatility. I'm all in on him right now. I can see him being Spillane's future replacement too. If he was in this year's draft, he'd be locked in to my mocks.

There's still the draft. We currently have 2 LB vacancies. Chenal had 70 coverage grades the last two years.

He's intriguing, but I see Josh as more a Y TE guy than a flex. He couldn't do much with Jonnu Smith. I don't know if Okonkwo can block but he'll need to be able to do so with Josh as his OC.

Weirdly quiet so far on day 2.
