Too many mediocre players are getting the Trey Flowers contract.

It's pretty crazy in this era of the NFL that you can be passed around like Phillips and Oweh, not retained by the trading team and get $28M-$30M per year. The greats of the past paved the way for mediocrity to get paid FU money.

He is worth $30M+ AAV on a 2 year deal if he's healthy.
Even if he's 80% of the old Trey, he's still a better pass rusher than all the guys in this thread.

We severely are overrating Chaisson. Paye is a 5 year starter. Chaisson played himself off 2 teams, never really became a starter until last year and as the #1 edge rusher in a disruptive defense got 7.5 sacks more than a few being flushed out to him

I don’t think much of the league views him as a starter.

I hope they’ve got an agreement that Chaisson will give them the chance to match his best offer. If he was going to get crazy money he’d already have signed. Bringing him back with Jones would be a good foundation, then add a rookie and hope Landry may come back.

Either way they still have the $$& to sign another edge, and they don't need any more interior DL. And given the way the defense played in the playoffs I'm really not worried about them anyways. However I won't be surprised to see them sign another off the ball linebacker, there are some good ones out there.

It's because teams have more money than they know what to do with as a result of these large cap increases. They don't really plan more than a year or 2 out. So, they overspend to address whatever their immediate need is.

How do these numbers compare to the increased cap though?

These numbers were asinine 4-5 years ago. But now? The cap has exploded the last few years. I’d more want to see what percent of cap hit these deals take. 15-20 million isn’t nearly what it used to be.

Yes, but it is still causing the top of the market to be severely overpaid in relation to the middle and lower parts of the market.

Kinda surprised we haven't heard more chirping from the owners about how they're paying out too much and they need to have a position $ cap so they can make more $.....
