The Ravens didn’t pick up that fifth year option which was less than what he’s now getting per year. If that’s his free agent price, they could at least have gotten a draft pick for him on a one year deal.
 
Kind of expected, I think. The Raiders are on the rise≥ Baltimore, I think, is on the decline. "Athletic" QB's like Lamar have a few years to develop other skills as theor physical gifts inevitably decline. Lamar has fallen short in that work. Minus those skills, Lamar will be a very expensive mediocrity.

Great player, horrible contract. Has nothing to do with being cheap, but everything to do with being responsible to the rest of the league at keeping the market straight. Obviously the Raiders have to overpay to have players go there at this point.
 
As a percentage of cap space the salaries for the top tier FA's are out of hand. Inside locker rooms across the league the gap between the haves and the have nots is getting outrageous.
 
And some thought the McGovern contract was a relevant benchmark....ah no!

Not really.
They are taking Mendoza #1 and are trying to set him up to succeed.
A bad Oline could ruin a QB for years, sometimes forever.
I understand their thinking.
