Patriots Rumor Alec Pierce question

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
What dimension does AJ Brown add?
Pierce is really the perfect fit for this team because his ability to get open down the field and Maye down field accuracy while force defenses to try and take that away and open up room for every other receiver.

Brown can be more of a multi-tool.

This. The rest of his list is solid. I’d add Nashville, Atl (though they actually live and practice up near me in the suburbs an hour from Atlanta), TX, AZ, etc.

Years ago I worked in biotech a lot and SF was a nice spot along with Sunnyvale and Mountainview. Now?

SF is an absolute literal ****hole.
Posters have not been to SF recently. They do not understand what SF is now.

5% wealth tax in CA and posters think players are flocking there? A wealth tax is not an income tax, a wealth tax includes 5% of your overall wealth, so if the player has any publicly traded stock and bonds, private business interests, and even art, for example, they lose 5% of that too.

Paying CA taxes is a better choice?
He’s 26. Normal 26 year old would choose those two places in Cali over Mass. Now ask a 26 year old with 100 million coming to him where he’d like to spend the next 4 years and it’s not a question. If he develops into a WR1 this kid will be printing money with those LA endorsements. Weather and Nightlife are also much better too. Places in Boston close at 2 still. These things factor into decisions like this.

Again I have no clue if he’s even thinking about these things as I am not him. But I’ve been 26 before. These are things I thought about before moving from Boston to Miami.

How is that better? Pierce opens up more production from the other receivers. Pierce had as many yards on a lot fewer targets
Pierce doesn’t cost draft picks.

Where did you live when you were 26 once

I'm not advocating for Brown over Pierce. The question was in regard to what added dimension Brown could bring.

Posters argue that players do not want to sign in MA because the taxes are too high, and then argue that players want to sign in CA where the taxes are higher.

Lots of players are not looking for Nightlife. D Maye, T Henderson, W Campbell, etc. for example.

D Maye's wife has a cooking channel on Tik Tok. She made chocolate chip cookies for all of the travelers on Jet Blue to the SB - 100s if not 1000s of cookies - I am sure Drake helped some. It is a common misconception that all athletes like nightlife and strip clubs. Alex Pierce graduated with a degree in Mech Engineering. Do you think the nightlife in LA is packed full with engineers? LOL

That's a proposed tax on billionaires, so it wouldn't affect 99.999% of athletes even if it becomes law and holds up in court.

You are talking about climate in the abstract, not in the specific sense of choosing who your boss is going to be. . Pierce can choose to play for Harbaugh or he can choose to play for Vrabel. And he can choose to play with Maye or play with Hebert, who disgraced himself in the Patriots playoff game. There's not going to be any significant difference in the $$$. IMO Piercecwill chooses the Patriots over the Chargers, because Vrabel and Maye made New England the best place to play in football in 25'. Players talk to each other, and I have no doubt that Patriots players are making it clear to their counterparts just how much they love playing for Vrabel.

We will see who is right in a couple of days.

If we got Pierce wed have the number one yards per catch player and the number 4 ypc (Boutte).

I have a question about Pierce's production and fit for this offense. Pierce's career catch percentage is only 53%, and his career high is 56%. This seems concerningly low. How is this explained?
I don't know if this has been answered already because I just entered the chat and started on page one.

But the simple answer is that deep balls have a much lower percentage of completion than short passes... it's that simple.

The level of difficulty gets higher the further away the pass. A ten yard pass is easier to complete than a 50 yard pass.

This is why I really want Josh and Drake to work on his short game and reading defenses this offseason.

Agreed, Alec Pierce is married, pretty sure he's not going out on a yacht and handing out little baggies of cocaine to strippers.

He is going to go at a price completely out of whack with his actual value. Draft and develop. Stop snatching at baubles.

How do we know what weather he prefers?
He's a young kid, not a grumpy old man shovelling his own driveway.
He grew up in Illinois, I'm sure he's use to cold weather.
Maybe he loves ice fishing snow shoeing.
This weather talk is unfounded.
Double Deluxe, you know the drill by now. Anything it takes to make it sound no one will sign here. Usually it is the taxes that the Debbie Downers bring out why no one will sign here. That does not work here so now it is the weather. And it is the same people every time, I literally laugh at the sheer trolling that goes on here and the pat on the back they give each other, it is quite comical. He may sign with the Chargers I have no idea. It won't be due to the weather I can assure you of that. The kid grew up in the Midwest, went to school at Cincinnati and plays for Indianapolis. He will go where the money is the highest (or close to it) and where he feels his career will thrive. I hope it is here but to hijack a thread about why his completion percentage is low to say why are we bothering, he has no interest or we have no chance is ridiculous but par for the course. A lot of good posters here, and a lot of good information makes dealing with the SamBam's (Sorry Grogan 14) and his ilk tolerable but what a PITA it is in every freaking thread.

You truly don't understand that a young rich athlete just might prefer to live in LA or SF or MIA of ATL instead of Providence or Boston.
Yes, some may......and some may not.
Pierce is very private off-field, doesn't seem like a guy driven by nightlife.
It's all conjecture, he may prefer state X or state Y......and he may not care!

D&D in the basement of the science building?

Sorry, 40 years ago reference.
I actually played D&D for a year back in the day
No science bldg for me tho, didn't graduate with my Eng degree until I was 29, spent too much time partying in my late teens/20s.
I never had dreams of living in Cali or Miami however.......maybe I'm an enigma.
I did have an interview with Qualcom in SD after I graduated.
Nice place to visit, but again never cared for moving there.
To each their own.

But im not sure it’s an added dimension. Forcing a bunch of targets to a guy who will get #1 focus doesn’t seem like a plus to our offense.

The reason so many people want a true WR1 is that they change how the defense can cover, making things easier for everyone.
