I don’t see Pop as a truly special slot for NE. Reason being 1.) he’s TINY and Drake seems to prefer bigger guys.

2.) And this is a unique quirk Pop has…I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a WR who catches the ball, and then immediately falls over the moment he tries to cut. It’s inexplicable how often Pop does that.
Pop treats the stripes on the field as the high hurdles.

Pop needs to learn to run "in Control". When he gets the ball, he immediately tries to go full speed and, more often than not, causes himself to lose balance. It's almost like he's THINKING about running fast instead of doing it instinctively.

The Bengals prove what you are saying to a point but that's because the Bungals kept Higgins and Chase.

We saw what the lack of a go to guy can do to your offense in the postseason against elite defenses.

Having that #1 guy is worth it and doesn't hamper the rest of the roster. Paying 2 guys like #1 WR's makes no sense.
It wasnt go to guy that was the problem it was the pass rush.
Relying on one go to guy gets taken away a lot easier than having a complementary team of receivers.
In our offense if you get Pierce to play the X, make Boutte the z have Williams back up both, Henry at TE, the good receiving RBs, and whoever in the slot you attack the whole field. Everyone is a potential 1 depending upon the coverage you get.
With Maye at QB you can exploit every part of the field.
Maye elevates each receiver, and the group complements each other.
That’s much better than collecting pass catchers

So you're saying he isn't drunk?

After last year, they've earned a lot of faith from me. They know what they're doing. And it feels really, really nice to say that after the last few years.

As Andrew Callahan quipped:

Bummer about McGovern. He's damn good!

One option at LG is Joel Bitonio. Not the longterm solution obviously but I'm hearing that next year's class is deep in IOL.

McGovern has good versatility....would have been nice.

I could see Vrabel doing this and being committed to a LG draftee or two next year.
