Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
Pierce said he wants a stable QB situation, a winning culture, and a stable franchise.

Raiders don't have a QB, no winning culture, and aren't a stable franchise. they're out.
Bills just acquired Moore, they're out.
Jets have no QB and are as unstable a franchise as it gets. They're out. That leaves the Chef's, and they have to pay Kelce and Rice. They could compete for Pierce but I think the Patriots would win that battle.
The thing about Pierce is that I think he’s going to get at least 4/100. Maye is still on his rookie deal so if he underwhelms he’s probably gone in 2 years and if he does well he probably wants a new deal and is traded around the time Maye gets paid. Don’t get me wrong, if that’s the addition is a pretty damn good one but I’m not sure he’s a WR1. He’s better than Doubs or anyone on the current roster though.

Pats
Raiders
Bills
Jets
Chefs will all be in on Pierce.

The Bills and Chiefs have money issues. I don't see either being in on Pierce.

Pierce's people won't even pick up the phone from the Raiders or Jets unless they intend to use them to just drive up the price. But teams know that Pierce wants to go to a team with a good QB and strong system. So if they negotiate with the Pats and say "Well, the Jets are offering X dollars", Wolf will probably respond with "Well, then go sign with the Jets" because he knows they are not going to take the Jets offer even if it is more.

4/$100 million is a #2 WR contract. And if he exceeds expectations, that is a good problem to have.

Teams that could be in on Pierce besides the Pats:
Seahawks - To replace Rasheed Shaheed. And they have lots of cap space
Chicago - To replace DJ Moore. They have plenty of players they can do the salary conversion with.
Tampa - To replace Evans.

I think we will know very early on Monday morning where Pierce is going. I’m not even going to speculate. I want him on the Pats, but all we can do is wait. I would say we are out on Brown if they insist on a 1st and a 3rd. Unless the Pats do a 1st this year and a 3rd in 2027.

I would love to get Pierce for 5 years, and also draft Brazell at 31. He could turn into a Pierce type. Or if TE Eli Stowers is there at 31 (a guy can dream right ?).

The rubber hits the road over the weekend. Vrabel will say "it's a 2nd rounder, take it or leave it, otherwise we're moving on to Alec Pierce. If we don't get him, and we probably will because we can offer him the best contract, then we will move on to Mike Evans. If we don't get him either, then we will call you back, but not until after the draft when we've already used this 2nd round pick that you turned down at which point we are talking about 2027 picks... So, you should probably just take our offer now."

I still don't see how PHI can trade Brown next week and be under the salary cap on March 11th.

I am calling BS on this. No way are they offering a 1st and a 3rd for a 30 year old WR. And no way is Roseman rejecting this offer. Roseman is said to want a first and another pick in the top 100 picks. The Pats' 3rd rounder is pick 95.

A 1st and a 3rd I hope it's a future 3rd or Draft Day 26 would suck.

They can't, though @Miguel is the person who would know better than I.

Nah! Chicago clearly are all in on Burden and Odunze. They spent a lot of draft capital on them. Plus, they are going to trade for Crosby which they are trying to free up cap space for. They are shedding players to afford him (DJ Moore, Tremaine Edmunds). I don't see the Bears making another big move.

Also, don't see Tampa in on him. I am not sure if Pierce would want to go there. Mayfield is Jekyll and Hyde and I don't know if they have organizational stability or system he is looking for. Besides with Godwin and Egbuka, WR isn't a pressing need for them and Pierce probably would see them as the same issue as the Colts where they would treat him like a deep ball, contested catch specialist.

Maybe the Seahawks. But I don't know if Pierce would want to go there since their passing offense is built around JSN and he is basically their passing offense. Not sure he would feel that he would get enough passes there.

Tampa - Godwin hasn't been able to stay healthy the last 2 years and just turned 30. Pierce would see #2 snaps there and they run more 3 WR sets than most teams.

Seahawks - Their offense is around JSN because they don't have another adequate WR.. Pierce would take that pressure off JSN.

I think if Brown were going to happen it would have happened already.
I think a 2 is enough and no more.
We would get 2-3 good years out of him at big $.
we need the 1 this year fir an OL

Still think the Bucs are still riding Godwin for another year or two. I don't think they will be in a market for a WR. At least not a starting one. And their defense sucks. They need a lot of help there. I expect them to focus most of their top dollars improving that side of the ball.

And I don't know if JSN gets all the targets because they don't have receivers or that Darnold just is overly relying on throwing to him because his limits as a starting QB. And you gotta think Pierce may be asking those same questions. Not ruling them out. I just don't know if they are what Pierce is looking for.

AJ Brown and his agent have to press the issue, promise to make a bigger stink if he is still there next season.

We also have to hope other teams don't fold and offer that high draft compensation, and that AJ lets these teams know he doesn't want to go there.

This will take a little time to sort out, but Philly has to understand the market sets the price. If nobody offers a first, they either take the best offer on the table or deal with the headache again next season.
Sure, but I’m not convinced Roseman really wants to trade Brown anyway.

I saw a rumor on Blue Sky saying the Eagles turned down a 1st and a 3rd from the Pats for Brown. We’re on to Pierce.

No need to make a formal offer if Roseman is sticking to his guns and not budging. I am sure they made informal offers.

AKA get the deal done before Alec Pierce can be signed and ruin any leverage.
