People are still talking about the price for AJ Brown being a first and possibly more. That ain't happening. I know it. Vrabel and Wolf know it. Howie Roseman knows it.
The most they are going to get is a mid second round value for him. So the Pats may have to trade their second and a late round pick to get it done. But if this trade happens, that is the most the Pats will give up.
The Bills are now out on Brown. And it looks like it is the Pats or no trade. Roseman may be traveling down the point of no return on Brown. He will never really have to trade him, but it may get to the point in the relationship that it is in the team's best interest to trade him.
I still think there is a chance that the Pats trade for Brown and sign Pierce. Neither are or will make top WR money. They both are going to be making top #2 WR money (and Brown is on the low end of that scale). My guess if the Pats sign Pierce first and then trade for Brown, Boutte may be part of the trade package. It will be whether they think Boutte is a long term solution and how much they think he is product of Maye. But he would be redundant to Brown in this scenario.
