Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.

Do you ever read what a person posts, or you just hit reply as soon as you read a few words? I addressed this article in what I wrote. Seriously. I wrote, "Just because the Stealers called about Thomas does not mean they are in trade discussions and the Pats could swoop in." The Jags have said they don't want to trade Thomas. They have said it multiple times. A team can call other teams all they want. It does not mean there is a negotiation going on. It's all reporter speculation from Andrew Fillipponi.

Don't shoot the messenger

I don't think A.J. Brown is ever going to happen: I don't how to Eagles get past that contract Dead Money hit.
Howie knows how to negotiate. Opening price is more than you expect to get

There was no messenger. There was just you replying to a post you did not read, and that post cited the article you posted. Just read before you reply.

Opening price for AJ Brown in astronomical and so is his dead cap hit. He is not coming here with 2026 draft picks.

No he hasn't I think I Chism is going to surpass him. Pop hasn't develop in that Slot Receiver I hope he would. I hope they Trade him for a 7th on Draft Day. This is his Fourth year in the league I don't think there's more to him.
Same thing could have been said about Troy Brown, Welker and Edelman. Except they didn't do anything in their fourth year. Demario has done more than all of them.

As for Chism, he is slower than molasses.

Oh most certainly!! He can.. pop made some huge plays this season but he's not a traditional slot I believe he can be dynamic with the ball in his hands.. getting the "guy" mixed in with everything else we have Henderson, Boutte, Williams, Henry at TE takes this offense to another level.. we need the guy in the offense so everyone else has favorable match ups..
We don't know if we have a guy in the slot because Drake Maye is looking far downfield all the time. We have plenty of people come open there but they never get the ball. Allow McDaniels and Maye to develop in this offense before giving away our weapons.

He's a clueless Slot Receiver and is too short to play outside. I don't see a role here time to move on.

That's a rip off.

Look, we need to develop our guys. Remember, Welker, Edelman and Troy Brown did nothing in the NFL until their 5th year. Douglas has shown signs that he can become a Troy Brown for us.
Sure. However what people are failing to acknowledge is that it’s infinitely easier to build having a rookie contract QB. If you’re wasting your time developing Chism instead of getting an answer to contending in 26-27 then you’re wasting a great opportunity.

Douglas is solid but replaceable

Pats releasing Diggs at start of the league year.

Looks like the Diggs era is over in NE!

Well we will be without a wr who had 1,000 yards and 85 catches unless the AJ brown thing comes to fruition...

I'd rather sign Pierce than AJ Brown. Much younger, ascending, great character.
Pierce is hitting the FA market - asking $24M/yr. x 4 (according to Lazar)
He's so much more worthwhile than another unknown risk of a draft pick.

Pierce (X), Boutte (X, Z), Diggs (Z, Slot), Williams (Z), Hollins (X, Y), Chism (Slot)

Pop is gone. Jiles & Webb on PS. Potential 3rd/4th round flyer on WR

I would too. A bit risky but pierce is still ascending and you pair him with arguably the best deep ball thrower in the league. He could really take off here. Plus brown isn’t coming without risk too

JE did more in his rookie year than Douglas has done in his career.

Douglas is in a slot wide receiver body that thinks he is an X. He's good at beating man because he's short and quick...that's it. He does not know how to play slot...especially in Josh's offense. He is not good against zone.
